New sanyo hdtv and old vcr...can't get menu to appear on screen

there is an input or input select button that gives you cable, hdmi and video composite,to run the vcr. hook up cable and put the tv on channel3 to make sure that works first, then play with the rca cables. keep in mind a tape has to be playing, the new tv have a signal sense circuit,if there is just "snow" you get a blue screen

Don't have manuel and don't know how to Set up Hitachi VCR

Such a simple job. First check if the cables are connecred properly
1. Audio OUT from VCR to AUDIO IN of TV.
2. Video OUT from VCR to VIDEO IN of TV

Then switch the TV ON. Select 'Video' on the TV/Video
selection button on the TV's remote control.
Your TV screen will show a display like 'Video' or 'AV'
Play a cassette and you should be able to see the picture...
Happy Viewing.

VCR won't record

Check to make sure the cables on the VCR are hooked up correctly. If the in and out are reversed, this might cause your problem. Hopefully it's as simple as that. if not leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

Basic Set-up

Most VCRs have a simple slide switch, usually on the back of the unit. Just slide the switch towards "4"

Tuning in Akai Video

Please explain what you mean by "tuning in."  Are you referring to hooking up to your Television, or to a cable/satellite box?  Or can you not see video when you play a VCR.

Check your hookup cabling.  With a cable or satellite system, the VCR normally is hooked between the cable/sat receiver box and the TV.  Cable box RF output to VCR RF input, VCR RF output to TV RF input.

There are other possibilities when your TV has video or line inputs.

I just had this same problem. I thought that the timer was stuck and was the reason why the VCR wouldn't play. I just moved and thought the unit got broken in the move. However, I think it was just not hooked up properly to the TV. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, and got it hooked up properly and it started working again (I tested the connection with a DVD player first). The flashing timer light went off as soon as I reset the clock. It seems odd that having it not hooked up properly should stop the VCR from playing, but that is what seemed to happen in my case. Hope this helps.

First make sure you are hooked up in back. You can go either way. Cable out to tv, Cable or RF in from antenna should be from what you are using like cable, satellite, or just antenna. Then you should have set put on channel 3 or 4 and you can switch that in back of VCR also. Then if you don't see picture on screen with vcr on then find channel that you are coming in on like for satellite you need it to be on 3 or 4, cable you can just put it on the channel you want to record. The other way are from Video Jacks the red, white, yellow. If this is the way you are hooked in then you should look for video 1, 2 or which ever you are hooked into and find on set. then look on vcr for video or aux 1, 2 or depending on the one you are hooked in to. Hope this helps. If not then tell what you are using and what you have done so far!

Can't see menu to programme VCR

Try unpluging the unit from the wall for about 5 minutes then plug back in and turn it on,this will reset the brain and go back to normal.
