I had the very same problem with my gr d33 dv camcorder, very frustrating..I rang the jvc service support centre on 0870 330 5000,and spoke to a very helpful chap called kevin ,they ask when and where you bought it and the serial number which is underneath the cam,the fault is with a ccd sensor and a common problem with many jvc cams ..they offer a free repair up to june 2009 for some models iv`e checked and yours is valid for repair..they arrange to pick it up from your house and back all free..they took mine and returned it in 5 days which is a very good .and it works perfect .Hope iv`e been of some help to you..

I had the "REMOVE LENS CAP" problem. Thanks to willowyoung I called the JVC helpline which has now been changed to 0845 310 8000. I have had my camera for 5 years. I gave them the model number and they confirmed that it is on the list for free repair. It seems that they are continuing to repair certain model numbers for free so it is worth the call. They collect and deliver free of charge too. Result!!

Apparently there is a faulty module on these models which JVC is replacing free of charge (found this on another forum). Have emailed JVC myself this evening so cannot confirm. Suggest contact JVC directly....

I have a camcorder JVC GR-DX67EK which worked fine and suddenly as I started it up the message "Lenz Cap" came up (as it normally does). But this time, it didn't clear up as I removed the Lenz...

Look for a switch somewhere around the lens that is probably stuch triggering the OSD to display "Lens Cap". You may have to depress nthe switch with a toothpick or paperclip. Look at the lens cap for something sticking out of it. That would be the actuator. Line that up and you should then find the switch.

Cannot record, says lens cap needt to be removed

I would sugest removing the lens cap (protective cover over the lens) and see if that does the trick.

Display is black even after removing the lens cap

See my post of before. I just knocked the camera on the floor by mistake and it miraculously started working again after years. Shows it must be mechanical and not related to software.

JVC Digital Video Camera GR-DVL107E

Assuming you don't see any video through the viewfinder, it could be that the CCD has died on that camcorder. It happens, though not frequently.

If the video though the viewfinder is clear, there might be some sensor on the lens ring to indicate a lens cap, or an automatic lens cap not properly disengaging when put in record mode.
