Dvd recorder stuck

When powered up the recorder cycles thru "hello","bye", then "hello","please wait","bye without ever actually turning on. TheHDD is highlighted but no amount or combination of button pressing will change the cycle or the drive selected. if i open up the unit is it at least possible to salvage recordings from the hard disc? Thanks

SOURCE: Locked DVD Tray

I'm pretty sure the force disk eject is the same across all Panasonic models - however I couldn't find anything specific for your model number. Still worth a shot, though.

With the unit in standby, press and hold the 'Stop' and 'Ch up' buttons together. It should power up and force the tray open. If this doesn't work, try changing up your timing by pressing and holding 'Stop' first, then a half-second later, press and hold 'Ch up' and keep them both held together. You can also try the opposite.

If none of these work, it will have to be taken apart to get the disc out. If you aren't comfortable trying, it will have to go to service.

SOURCE: RAM Disk won't eject

unfortunately, this unit is on system lock down due to massive main board failure. its kinda like a system protect mode. this can only be repaired by the manufacture or maybe an in house tech with knowledge of the board outline. i don't think this unit has an escape code for retrieving the dvd. hope that helps ya and thanks for using fixya:)

Dmr-ex85 shows u81 code and is not functioning at all, says please wait but eventually just goes onto error code. no buttons will function?

Physically unplug power from the unit for a minute or two.
Connect power cord to unit and Simultaneously Press & Hold
both the [STOP] and Channel UP [^] for 5 seconds. This will
force Eject the DVD tray. Remove any disc if present.
Cycle the power again if necessary and wait for the unit to
go through its self check cycle. If after several attempts, and
you continue to get this error, then your Ram drive may need
to be replaced.

DVD stuck on Panasonic DMR ES10 in eternal cycle of "self check"/"please wait"

My DMR ES10 was eternally in a "self check"/"please wait" cycle. Couldn't even turn it off normally. By pressing the "Power off" for 10 seconds it will turn off forcefully. Now, after it says "BYE" press the "CH UP" (on the recorder, NOT on the remote))+"STOP" (with the recorder turned off) for another 10 seconds. This will force the opening and we now can take the DVD off. Turn the DVD recorder ON and, if the problem is on the laser, because of dirt, etc it will work and we can now run a DVD cleaner. In this case, the machine was stuck just because the first thing it does is check the DVD inside, and because it can't and just keep trying, it will never do anything else, until we take the DVD off with it turned off.

I go to record and the machine will say bye and will turn off. This happens when I try to record on DVD. or the HDDi

it probably requires RESETTING the device..
Turn it on..go to SET UP menu..and within the sub menu find "FACTORY RESET" and click it..
and wait until it RESET itself..
if it wont help pls let me know than I may propose something else....

When I power up the unit it only shows Welcome and stuck there, after reset or unplug power it also shows Welcome. It is totally frozen at Welcome.

Its power board had got damaged. It ony supplies 5VDC to the board, which in turn energises the system control and display. There is 4 more voltages out from it is missing. You have to findi out it, and reason for its failure. Actually the swithcing process in the power supply board is OK. But without the above said missed voltages, there will be no motor voltages and mainboard chroma and decoder voltages. The system is very complicated in circuit nature, so without any previous expeience, never attmpt to reapir it. If you are well aware in digital electronics, you can do this. A high quality digital multimeter and a concept of soldering are also needed. I've given you the fault advice according to your post. Determine what should do. OK.

Sony dvd recorder will not open

Hi there,

Well while the unit is on and the Welcome is frozen push and hold in the power on button for about 15 seconds or so until the power goes off. Then release the power button. The unit will go on and the Welcome will eventually blink and the unit will eventually cycle into power off with just the clock showing. Then unplug the power and wait, unplugged for a few days to let the memory capacitor discharge..... If further you have the same problem then you need to repair it....... Please post comments for further help or information...........

Good Luck!!

Unit says hello

This problem is normally caused by a dvd player with a dirty lens that it cannot read or detect a dvd in the player. At the same time if this is a dvd/vcr combo a vcr that will not load or is stuck can cause the problem. These can be checked by taking the screws off the unit and taking a look at the position of the dvd laser lens or the vcr position to see if it is in the fully eject position. The part that holds the laser lens to read the dvds can be moved manually back and forth to dislodge it from a stuck position with the power off. Depending on how long it sat around it could just be stuck. You see when you first turn the power on to the unit initially or try to eject a dvd, it will cycle through and try to read a dvd even though there is not one there on power up. If that assembly that moves the lens to read the dvd cannot move, it will cycle off and turn itself off even though you try to reset it with the power button.
A transistor on the power supply can also cause this problem but without taking signal and voltage measurements it would be difficult to pinpoint the exact one. So try moving the laser lens assembly manually and then turn it back on. Let me know. Good luck.

DEAR SIR my LG rh-2252 dvd recorder has turn on,but just show in display box:hello and a few minute later :please wait please wait please waite. but it does nt voice,no picture

some dvd recorders take a while to come on if you turn it on with no disc in and wait for it to load up also check that the cables are all in correctly and you are on the correct channel it should show a start up screen also try changing the channel through the dvd recorder if this does not work and you have read through the manual contact the manufacturer or supplier

Dvd eject button does not respond

Had a similar problem after loading a suspect dvd (one I had buned myself) Could not do anything - stuck at loading.
Try this :
  1. Unplug and wait 10 seconds
  2. plug it back in and wait 1 minute. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS!
  3. With the machine still in the standby state, press eject on the REMOTE. It should eject without trying to read the disk.

Good luck. It worked for me.
