Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I can't figure out how to get the top component separated from the body of my Maytag pav3240. I'm attempting to gain access to the lid hinge screw, as the hinge is broken and needs to be replaced.

How do I get my back off my dryer to change my high limit switch?

Hi,
Some Kenmores are actually Whirlpool products.
1st, Unplug the Dryer from the Power Supply.
Many of the high limit Switches can be accessed by prying the top lid up with a Flat Head Screwdriver at both front corners where the lid meets the body. Once the front anchors are separated from the anchor wells, you should be able to lift the lid from the front as it pivots on the back hinges.
The High Limit Disc should be located in the Rear Center near the top. It is connected to the Dryer by 1 or 2 screws & 2 or 3 wires with Quick Connect Contacts. Make sure you use the exact replacement switch recommended for the Make & Model.
Never attempt to Bypass this Switch as It Will Cause a Fire!
Good Luck!,
Vinnie

How do I replace the lid switch?

This is completely dependent on what make and model washer you have. Some washers have a detachable top that is hinged at back and can be released at the front seam with two retaining clips that are gently pried up, or the front panel is removable to gain access to retaining screws at front of machine top. However, many other makes have screwed down tops that are accessible only from the inside of the body, these types generally have bodies that come off the machine in one piece, where they can be turned upside down to access the lid switches. It is very important to know what type you have, so the machine body isn't damaged while trying to access the part. If you have specific make and model number I can tell you exactly how to get to the switch.

Hope this helps

How to clean the underside of the scanner glass on an HP4400C flatbed scanner.

This is acutally easier than it looks. I just had the same problem with a cloudy film starting to form underneath the glass on my older HP 4400C scanner.

First completely remove the hinged top lid by lifting straight up on both long ends of the lid - notice the 2 hinges on the back end of the lid will come straight up and out of the body of the scanner, still attached to the lid.

Next look down inside the 2 hinge holes (on the main body of the scanner where the lid hinges just came out of) and you will see a screw in each hole. Remove both screws using a phillips screwdriver. This will allow the rear end of the scanner to come apart enough so you can now lift it up a few inches to separate it and get your hand inside there to clean the underside of the glass with a soft cloth - BUT JUST REMEMBER THE FRONT END OF THE SCANNER WILL STILL BE CONNECTED, so don't pull it too far apart because it could snap and break something that is still holding the front end together. (I could not figure out how to separate the front end piece, and then I realized I didn't have to).

So on the rear end of the scanner, now carefully pull the light upper colored plastic apart from the lower dark plastic just enough so you can get your hand inside the compartment and use a soft cloth to clean the underside of the glass. I just used a small piece of an old cotton t-shirt with a couple little dabs of water on it and then just kept rubbing the dirty areas on the underside of the glass over and over until all the dust film/streaks disappeared and the glass was once again clean and all clear.

Then gently lower the glass back down and line up the plastic pieces together on the rear end and put the 2 screws back in the hinge holes, and then reinsert the hinges in their slots and lower the lid back on top of the scanner glass and it is ready to go again !!

Hope this works for you like it did for me.

The cycle stops at final rinse and water is left in the drum.............until I cycle the knob and depress to activate.

tighten the hinge screws on the top left of the lid. If that doesn't get it started hit the top to engage the lid switch which is hooked into the left hinge on a whirlpool. if its a maytag, its in the center of the rear lid and you must remove the consoles rear to access the lid switch

Lid switch replacement

Some washing machines have the bolts that hold the top down situated behind the front panel but you have to remove the panel to gain access.
There may be 3-4 screws at the bottom of the front panel, remove the screws and the panel should come out.
Hope this has helped
