Question about Emerson MW8107WA Microwave Oven

1 Answer

No power - Nothing happens

The microwave simple does not turn on. Nothing on the digital screen, no beeps on the key pad. The light does not come on when you open the door. Nothing. There has not been any power surges in the area and the unit worked fine yesterday with out anything that would suggest that it was going bad. ie; food not heating up normally, key pad not working. I took the top cover off to see if there was a reset button and did not find one. I found a fuse and there is power through the fuse. So I know that I am getting power though the back of the unit and the obvious fuse is working. I am fairly savy with simple electronics but when it comes to the mother board behing the key pad I get a little nervous. Thank you to anyone that is willing to help. Jeff

Re: No power - Nothing happens

If you have power at the outlet and the internal fuse is okay, I would say you have a problem on the control board. We repair these nationwide for $32.50. Please see my profile for the Web address:

The child lock has been enabled on the microwave. To disable the lock, press and hold 0 until the Locked message disappears from the screen. To set the Lock, press Stop/Clear (to clear the display) and then press and hold the 0 pad until the phrase Lock appears and you hear two beeps.

The key pad doesnt work, had it less than a year. Unplugged and then plugged it back in and it tells me to set the clock but when i push the buttons nothing happens. The key pad isnt locked already tried...

The panel may have a short or need to be tested for replacement. You should try and leave unplugged for 8 hours so power supply can fully drain power and reset microwave

Spacemaker XL1400

Key panel (touch pad) shorted.

This code will occur if a shorted key panel is detected continuously over 60 seconds. Replace key panel (also called touch pad).

Microwave key pad stopped working

Okay, thank you for that.

You have a failed membrane keypad, but on this model, it is not available separately.

You would need to order the control panel assembly, part # WB56X10817, which you can get here for far less than GE charges.

It costs more than just a membrane would, but is much simpler to replace.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you remove your circuit board from the old frame and install it in the new frame.
