I ordered this hood which was described as Stainless Steel. It arrived and my fitter installed it while i was on hol. But it is awful as the actual chimney part is not silvery stainless steel but a dull greyish blueish colour which doesn't even look like steel but very cheap and almost plastic like. The actual fan part is lovely with the curved glass and satin stainless steel trim with silver buttons. Is this the normal colour of have I been duped by the online site Appliances Direct.

Screen is not the correct product to use to bird or squirrel proof the chimney. Your local hardware will have what is known as hardware cloth. It's actually a heavy wire mesh with 1/4" or 1/2" square pattern. you should be able to purchase it, by the foot, off a roll.
The fuse will be located in the switch or socket that the hood is connected to. This is sometimes inside the flue on the back wall. There should be two small screws either side of the chimney located at the top, unscrew and slide one part of the chimney down, please be careful as stainless steel has very sharp edges.
you will have to place a straight edge on the top on the hood near the exhaust pipe then mesure from the floor to the bottom of the straight edge, that will give you depth then here is the demisons you have to build the box in. And if you don't have the power there you need to get a contrator or do it yourselfer to install it four you.

1. The motor that elevates the fan is turning a tad to much. Just by stepping on the floor near it could cause it to go up/down constantly.
2.Or what i had seen was the wires that go to the switch dont have enough slack, and are just making contact to the switch causing it to think somone is pushing the button constantly.
