Pioneer DEH-P4800MP - Can not get into INITIAL mode to change settings

I have a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP in dash Tuner/CD Player. It has not been used in a few months and when I put it back in the vehicle it seems to have lost it's programming. It will play regular FM stations (although the original presets had to be reprogrammed), but I can not figure out how to get it into the INITIAL mode to make other settings. I need to reset the clock and to select the AUX 1 setting so I can play back my Sirius radio which is plugged into the AUX input on the back. This all worked fine before and I have made these settings in the past. The instructions say to turn the unit off using the SOURCE button. Then it says to press the FUNCTION button until the clock display appears. After turning the unit off and pressing the FUNCTION button I can get nothing to happen no matter how many times I press the button or how long I hold it down. I'm wondering if there is some sort of RESET button I may have to press to get it back into the mode where I can make my initial settings. Any advice would be appreciated.

My car battery died and had to be replaced. Ever since, I cannot get my Aux input to work. The operators manual instructions do not get you there. I have found many inconsistencies in the book.

Actually, TRY powering OFF the unit, and release the volume button. Then, press and hold ONLY THE VOLUME BUTTON, until the initial settings appear. Pioneer really needs to get their act together on this issue. I have read all over that MANY people have had this issue, and the website is just a repeat of their lame printed manual.

Hope this helps. In review:

From OFF, press and hold ONLY THE VOLUME BUTTON. The initial settings shall appear at this point after about three seconds...

I just read these instructions, and while trying it, I found that my FUNCTION KEY had ABSOLUTELY NO FUNCTION IN THIS.

The manual is only partly correct.  Power the unit down, then press and hold the Function button while powering the unit back up.  Keep holding the Function button during the power-up, and you'll be taken into the Initial Settings.  Worked that way on my  DEH-P4800MP, anyway.

okay this is how you really do it press volume button and turn radio off
then hold volume button down until clock numbers start to blink
then push the function button and it will go to the aux 1&2 option
press the over button as if you were changing the radio station or the next track
then presto your ipod or mp3 player should play thru your radio
i just did it and it works great

I have a Pioneer DEH-p4800mp and I connected to amplifier when i stop the cd player does not stop the amplificator

Question? have you also connected the Remote cable from the CD player to the Amp? or have you only got 12v & gnd hooked into the amp? if so then the amp will be on all the time. the remote goes from the CD player to the amp, usually a blue cable from the back of the head unit.

Can't change time

With unit OFF. Press and hold the FUNC button until the time and date are shown on the display.
Use the shuttle UP/DN/RT/LT control to set values and change positions. When satisfied with your entries, turn unit ON and you should be good to go.

IPod Adapter kit for DEH-P4800MP

Yes it does, I have proof.

Open a new window/tab browser. Click this link to the PIONEER WEBSITE PDF File for this cable. Please refer to page 7of 84, and look in the category "head unit group 1"... From the BOTTOM LEFT of this paragraph count up FIVE LINES, your Head Unit Model number is right there.

I hope this helps,

THe radio doesn't recognise the AUX connection

While you may read over a million answers to this problem, try this one first:

With the KEY ON, POWER THE UNIT OFF, by pushing the volume button IN for 3 seconds.
After power is off and key is STILL ON, press and hold the volume button AGAIN for 3 FULL SECONDS. The elusive "Initial" settings should reappear at this point. press function to navigate the INITIAL SETTINGS to turn on AUX1 or AUX2, and even to set the clock...

To get out of INITIAL SETTINGS, simply press again for THREE SECONDS, or press "BAND" to "escape"...

I hope this helps.

How about the red (switched power) wire? The unit will not turn on unless you have 11+ volts on the yellow AND the red power leads.
