I would try contacting the manufacturer of your keyboard and/ or PC. Yahoo.com also has several manuals available as well.

Keyboard not functioning

It may be a fault in the keyboard driver or in the keyboard itself. However if the character you need is not available on the keyboard directly it is possible to get any character by using the ASCII char code entry method. First off search the internet for a ASCII character number associating table (for a chart I like best, check here http://michaelgoerz.net/blog/2008/09/ascii-table/ascii.gif) now on this chart you have to use common fonts (IE: Ariel, times new roman, ect.) because some of the TTF fonts do not have all the characters in them available.
Now to practice using the characters, load Notepad and find the character you want to display from the chart (note: the number like 000d and 00h actually means 000 decimal and 00 hexadecimal, only use the number with the "d" after it with this method), on Notepad, after you pick out the character you want to display, press and hold the ALT key, and on your keypad (on most keyboards it is on the right side and resembles a calculator type keypad) while holding the ALT key down enter the number of the character you want to display (do not include the "d", only the number) then release the ALT key and that character should display for you in Notepad. Almost all standard fonts has the regular characters and some has the extended characters, you will have to check to see if the font uses them by trial and error. this method is a long lost forgotten means of putting characters into your documents which does not have keys on a standard keyboard (most standard keyboards only have 101 keys so this is the only way of using all the 255 character available in common fonts).
This is a built in function of all computers that uses Microsoft OS's and even DOS, HDOS, EDOS, (well all the DOS's), and you can use them anywhere you can type anything from your keyboard, (emails, letters, databases, spread sheets, etc.) if you can type from the keyboard to any program you can use these characters in this manner.
I hope this help you out!

How to troubleshoot keyboard issues?

<b>Summary:</b><br /> Keyboard issues are relatively easy to troubleshoot. If the cu has another keyboard available then try that keyboard or if the cu has another system avaialble then test the keyboard on that system. Remember when the keyboard is unplugged the system will usually need to be rebooted before it will work again.<br /> <b>Wireless Keyboard:</b><br /> If only some of the keys don't work skip to the section <b>Some Keys Don't Work</b> below.<br /> <ol> <li>Resynchronize the keyboard. Press the connect button on the keyboard for 5 seconds. Then press the connect button on the receiver for 5 seconds <li>Change the batteries. <li>Try reseating the receiver if possible. <li>Try positioning the keyboard closer to the receiver. <li>Skip to the section <b>Generic Troubleshooting</b> below. </li></ol> <b>Some Keys Don't Work:</b><br /> <ol> <li>Check if any of the num lock key, shift lock key, etc are causing the issue. This is especially prevalent on laptops which don't have a distinct numeric keypad. <li>If it's only the multimedia or hotkeys that don't work then try installing the specialized multimedia keyboard software that came with the system/keyboard. <li>Try reseating the keyboard and rebooting. <li>Go into <b>Accessibility Options</b> in <b>Control Panel</b> and check that <b>Sticky Keys</b>, <b>Filter Keys</b> and <b>Toggle Keys</b> are all switched off. <li>Check if the problem occurs in the BIOS. A good screen to test with is the create BIOS password screen if the keys don't work here then a new keyboard is in order. <li>Continue on to <b>Generic Troubleshooting</b>. </li></ol> <b>No Keys Work:</b><br /> <ol> <li>Try reseating the keyboard and rebooting. <li>Try power draining the system. This can be particularly effecitive with a laptop. <li>If this is USB try a different port. <li>Try entering BIOS - if you cannot get into BIOS then the keyboard probably needs to be replaced. <li>Go on to <b>Generic Troubleshooting</b> below. </li></ol> <b>Generic Troubleshooting:</b><br /> <ol> <li>Try uninstalling and reinstalling the keyboard driver and reboot <li>Try system restore back to before the problem occurred <li>Check for malware or 3rd party software that may be interfering with the function of the keyboard. <li>FFR or replace/upsell a new keyboard. </li></ol>

When I type letters or numbers using my key board nothing appears on my Desktop. Microsoft Basic Keyboard When I type nothing prints out I disconnect it and re connect it still has the same problem.

if your using the numbers keypad to the right on your keyboard, it sounds like you need to press the numlock button to activate the keys. if thats not the case , you may want to replace your keyboard if this is an issue that involves the upper number keys above the qwerty board.

I was cleaning my laptop keypad and one of the keys has come off....not sure how to put it back. Compaq Presario C700

Usually laptop keyboards are a unit by-itself meaning you may not be able to get individual key replacements if you were to request these directly from the manufacturer... I would probably be getting compaq on the phone to find out how much it costs to either have the they keyboard serviced (if possible) or the quoute on getting a replacement keyboard as even in the service manual for several laptops there's no specifics on how to remove keys from the keyboard but only how to deattach the whole unit for servicing porpuses.

If you are referring to the Number keypad.
Tap the "Num lock" key and you will see a light flashing.
Make sure the light is on when you stop.
Now try the keypad.

Keyboard and caps lock

Hi,
Due to the fact that the two keys are both together, i,d say that theres some muck under the keypad, thats sticking the 2 keys together. Try blowing air into the keyboard. Or put a vacuum cleaner on the keypad.
Don,t hold me responsible if the Vac, sucks the keys or Keyboard Up :)
