I have a Dell 26" lcd TV model W2607C. No warranty. Dell suggests it was made by Samsung or Philips. No power getting through--cord is good. Can you fix? If so, estimate? I am in downtown Toronto

I live in Brampton. It looks like the power supply failed on your LCD and I can repair it for you.
If you require further assistance, write to jah2mil@hotmail.com for more info on how to get that LCD repair.

Your problem can be in power board . You need to take to local service person to get correct estimate of replacing the power board in your tv . The cost will be around $300 for service .

The Samsung LN40B540P8F I would rate a 9. Only God is 10.

All the DLP sets, you can throw out

All the Older Projection sets you can throw out

I would take the rest for scrap parts.

I hope this is helpful.

My samsung pcl6215r won't power up. I heard a pop and now it doesn't come on.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail (sometimes with an explosion) prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

My W3201C 32" LCD TV made a loud popping noise when I turned it off. Now it will not turn on. No power. No LED light.

That would be your transformer popping and dieing. Usually the popping is followed by a burning smell which is a good indicator that the part is unrecoverable. The cost of the part is variable based on the make and model TV and is usually not too labor intensive to replace. If not under warranty, let the repair gut know that you know what the problem is. Then, ask them to quote the cost of the replacement part and part number. Then ask them to quote you their hourly rate and get a time estimate. Then, google the part number and see if the cost is reasonable.

How much is a 1998 26 inch Sharp tv worth?

If it is in good working condtion and looking very clean you may be able to get about $60 to $100 for it. Remember that there are new LCD TV sets that are very low in cost and will out perform your set.
I have seen some 24 inch models on sale for under $250 with a 3 year warranty. And, these sets will work in 16:9, has component inputs, and are packed with features.

In these times, people are trying to get rid of their CRT sets and change for the LCD types.

A 24 inch flat screen TV has about the same viewing as a 25 to 26 inch CRT TV.

I suggest you enter the Philips model number to search for solutions already posted; unfortunately, Philips comes up too often; they were once a great manufacturer.

New (12/2007) 1080p Samsung 46" LCD TV. Flickering white horizontal lines on entire left screen. Double picture. What's up?

At this point there is not much you can do.
If this LCD is less then a year old, I would suggest to contact the manufacturers to get it fix under their warranty.
Good Luck.

This unit should still be under warranty. Bring it in for warranty service. If you open up the unit you will void the warranty.
