I had the same issue. It started with vertical lines of all primary colours 1 at first then progressing to 200 +. I started to use the VGA out on an external monitor but it had what looked like static only in the dark areas. This eventually lead to the full screen pattern of funky squares and video card crashes. Ripped the whole thing apart to find dust clogging the heat sink cooling fins. Sorry to tell you this but by the time it gets this bad the on board video card has cooked itself to death!

Check out the post for vertical lines. I too have seen this problem; the uniform pattern of squares across the entire screen. Turns out the cooling fins were clogged with dust and the video card fried.

I have a HP pavilion dv7 17' screen which now has most of the white areas turned pale blue. Some of the black areas have a red undertone.

Hi this is a simple one really, either the Video Screen has failed or the screen driving, graphix card has failed... IF you can hookup an external monitor and it displays a good picture, then that means the graphix card is OK and it is the screen. Replacing the screen is not a difficult job, but you would need the service manual, and the screen, the screen is maybe available via Ebay, or HP direct.
Most likely though, DIY is beyond most people, for one reason or another accordingly, contact HP local or head office and ask for a referral to an authorised service center, make contact here and ask for a "Quote" as to the repair and go from there.
service manual is at download link below if required.

My google screen is to far right I cannot move it fully to the left

In the top right hand corner there is an X in red and next to it is a square with another square behind it. Click on the square and that will restore your full screen.

How do I shrink a page on the eeepc 701 so i can 'click' on the link at the bottom of the page? Every time I drag it into vision, it goes back to its original position when letting go of 'left click'

On the top right corner you will see the red X box and to the left either a square or 2 squares, if you see 1 square click on it to maximize the screen, this will allow you to see all the screen, if you then put the pointer to the bottom edge of the window, you should get a double arrow, click and hold the button in and drag the bottom edge of the window up slightly, then un-click and this will leave the window in a default size.
I hope this helps

IBM A31 2652 Video garbled video at boot

This is very possibly a hardware problem, namely a crack in the motherboard. Sorry, no easy or cheap fix for it if that's the case.

Booting problem

Sounds like you need to reboot it from the startup disks provided. first though, check in the BIOS to see if you have the correct boot sequence. You may also need to check for virus if the music was downloaded of the internet.

T30 startup problems...

We can start with the easy stuff first. Move the memory chip to the other slot. Remove the small square plate on bottom of the laptop. You'll need a really small screw driver for this. If you have two chips, remove one and see if the laptop will boot-up.
