Recently repaired field / frame vertical stage replace vert amp IC301, C432 ,( D431 & R431 blown) set is now working, however the picture has a few horizontal lines in the centre and bottom of screen i presume i need to know how to access the service mode to do vertical alignment as the Vheight is a little out.
Does anybody know how to access the service mode on this set please help.
Thanks in advance.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. goodluck!

It is vertical stage problem .check supply voltage, and output voltage of ver ic,If it is upnormal find reason, and also resold the ver.ic .and change vert stage electrolytic filters.finaly replace vertical ic.
IT IS VERTICAL OUTPUT SRAGE FAULTY. FIRST CHECK SUPPLY VOLTAGE 18VDC. THEN CHECK OUTPUT VOLEGE 15VDC.IT IS UPNORMAL FINALLY CHANGE VERTICAL OUTPUT IC.BEFORE CHANGING IC CHECK ALL THE COMPANENTS IN THE VERT.STAGE
It has gone into a self protect mode where it will shut down because you have a fault in the frame stage of the TV (horizontal line). This will most likely be a failure of the frame output IC. Replace this & you should restore the normal picture.
Since Intermitant always inspect the vert ckt for bad solder connections. If not replace the output IC they're cheap and most likely the problem If you still have lines on the top or bottom I would replace all of the electrolytic capacitors in the vert ckt also. Without much test equipment rebuilding the whole little ckt is the best way to go.
The vertical output IC or the vertical circuit is whats at fault. its all solid state and im sorry to tell ya that its not a user replaceable part. This set is probably not worth the repair it would take to get this set working again but please if you like ask a ;ocal repair shop what they thought about this problem.. Good Luck and please dont forget to rate this thread
One thing you should not do with electronic devices which have a start up proceedure is to turn the power off, and then on again without a wait of about five minutes.
Some equipment manuals warn you about this, and specify a longer period.
The start-up has to have time to reset.
It will be more likely to reset if you do not leave it on standby,
and even unplug it.
In your TVs case you need to describe the distorted picture as it may give a clue to a fault, or incorrect start-up.
The horizontal line indicates the frame timebase had stopped working.
No picture could be a fuse blown inside the set, or a timed cutout which may reset after a time.
Try after several hours to see if it comes on.
If it is just the frame timebase (vertical) it is worth repairing.
If you know how to trouble shoot solid state electronics, you should not have a problem trouble shooting this set. it sounds like a bad solder connection But these sets are not made for a consumer to repair as they are all soldered into placxe and inside a TV set is not tyhe place for a peep to br if he doesent uinderstand thongs
If hitting the set gets the vert to come back then you have bad solder connections on the vert. outputs.. If it dosent then your gonna need to measure the voltage first on the vert output IC see if its about 24 or so volts If it is replace the IC. If its not the replace the vert B+ drive capacitor off the flyback xformer. If you cant find these things then your gonna need to get a schemtic from sams photo facts and post the vertical section and I will tell you or assist youin this repair. If you have had experience in soldering and curcuit work your already ahead in the repair. post the schematic.
Defective components in vertical deflection and output circuit inclusive of vertical output device, coupling capacitors, and yoke connectors. Passive devices such as electrolytic capacitors, coils, and resistors to/from power supply circuits. If your tele is more than 10 years old dump it and get a newer product. $100 USD is a fair price to diagnose and attempt service, depending on age and configuration. Older products may not have replacment
parts available at any repair cost.
There may be a pot for adjusting the vertical size. If so, it may be dirty. If you can find it, try adjusting it which could clean it. BE CAREFUL -voltages are very high.
