Question about Delphi Roady XT XM Radio Receiver

3 Answers

Since Sirius took over, MY XM Roady will not stay on a station.

I can not punch in a station number and have it go to that station. I can select preset and go to direct input, and it will take the number, however in a few minutes it will go off the station, and it always happens when I cut off the car and restart. It will jump to a station that is advertising the channels available. Another way I can pick the channel is pressing the scan lever and scanning through the channels until I get to the one I want then pressing the scan button. However, it may or may not stay on the channel.

I have the same problem. Since the merge, most of the time when switching channels, it will look OK for a second, but then the display will change to "Loading 26" or whatever channel I select. Then it switches to "Loading 1" where it stays forever. Delphi said to reset the radio to factory defaults. It worked the first time but a day later the same problem came back. Resent the signal from XM several times and that did not help either.

I have the same problem which started when Sirius took over as well. First I noticed I wasn't able to get the 40-50-60 channel. Then noticed it jumps from station to station with no consistency as to when or to what station. During the holidays, I'd put on the Holly station, but it would go to a Canada channel or some advertising station. VERY ANNOYING. I gave up trying to use the darn unit.

I have the same problem. Since XM and Sirius merged my Roady XT will not stay on the station that I set it to. It will jump to other stations.

I called Delphi Tech Support and they said that my power adapter was going bad and "spiking". A new power adaptor would clear up the problem ($12.95 at myradiostore.com). I'm a little hesitant to order a new one as I don't trust that the radiostore.com is not in bed with Delphi and just trying to generate more money.

    anybody try this with success?

This was mine was doing and after no help from any one I did this and it has been working great for over a year now. There is a bad connection on the voltage input on the radio. look in the hole you will see a copper contact if it wore, you will see a hole in it, you needed to bend it towards the center contact just a little bit. then try it again I worked on mine

Yes, Guest, thanks SO MUCH for your input! I got a new power adapter and ---voila!----no more craziness. BTW: I suspect my old one may have become damaged due to lighting. <div><br /></div> <div>For those who want to try it: you need the 5V Belkin AC adapter (wall plug) for $9.99, available at various sites online. </div>

I called XM Radio and told them my problem. They told me to park my car in the drive way and turn on my XM Roady, an within the next three hours they would send a signal from the sattelite to fix the radio. Withing less than 30 minutes they had fixed it, and it works fine now.

XM and Sirius radios have merged and that is what caused the problem.

Sirius radio problems

I would do the following, hoping one of them works.

1) DISCONNECT the power to the radio and SiriusXM unit to "clear" it. Then reconnect and ask Sirius to resend signat.

2) Ask Sirius to UNSUBCRIBE that radio so it is deactivated. Then, have them reactivate and resend programing signal.

3) Be sure your car is outside under clear sky when Sirius sends the program signal.

4) It is possible the antenna cable to your unit is loose at the connections and/or damaged. A weaker signal may get your stations, but may prevent the additional Navigational signals. Have the antenna checked thoroughly and tested. If car is still under warranty, this should be a covered diagnostic/repair.

5) Finally, be sure the correct Radio Serial Number is being activated. If your radio works, that is one service. But maybe they are putting a wrong number by some chance into the system to fix this one? For example, you have TWO radios in TWO cars. Are they sending the turn on signal to the WRONG radio? Not as farfetched as you might think.

Good luck!

I have enjoyed my radio for about 2 years. For about two weeks I get the message"loading" on my radio. It does not happen all the time, but it seems like it is happening more frequently. It will...

Just a few weeks ago Sirius XM changed there channels. That might have been one problem. But it shouldn't be loading all the time. It might be losing the channels and have to reload the channels.

I can hear a soft squealing noise when my Roady is in the home dock. Also it starts changing stations randomly by itself. Any suggestions?

If you're using XM Direct to input channels, press the select key after tuning to the channel. If you're not, perform a factory reset. The squealing noise is because of interference with your speakers, it's normal (unless you don't hear any music).

My roady xt does not have a fm select option on the menu

You need to have it in the AUTO base/cradle - AND - you cannot have anything plugged into the LINE OUT or AUX OUT jack, as it will disable the FM transmitter. Try unplugging the audio output, then you'll be able to select the FM transmitter again. I believe that they removed the option from the HOME cradle/dock all together because of regular AM/FM radio stations complaining to the FCC that the transmitters were too strong (in other words, they wanted to hurt satellite radio competition or slow it down as much as possible by forcing Sirius and XM go back and redesign their radios for a much weaker or NO FM transmitter).

My xm roady will only turn to certain preset stations

Turn the unit off and on with the power button and you should be able to get channel 1. Can you get Channel 1? If so, then call XM and ask them to send you a 'refresh' signal to reactivate your subscription on the radio. okay?

Roady xt

i figured it out with help from a delphi service rep.! you need to go into the menu and reset to factory default.this will erase everything you have changed from the factory settings, but once done you can reprogram your settings and they will stay. step 1-enter menu step 2-reset factory default settings step 3-reprogram your preset stations,FM freq. colors etc. step 4-use power button on the roady to turn it off.once the roady shuts down turn it back on with the power button. step 4-now you should be able to turn the key off without erasing your presets.

Roady XT Transmitter problem

Mine is doing the same as well. Been working for 1 year. Now it starts cutting out while listening. I noticed if it is broadcasting the fm frequency menu is there. The minute it cuts out I press Menu and that menu item is gone. It comes back once the radio starts working again. Mine is 1 year old. I got it Christmas of 2006. I do know that if you have it directly connected then this menu item will not appear and that is by design. I think my xm roady xt has gone bad.
