Question about WYSE S90 THIN CLIENT KB/MSE XPE (902115-01L) Network Terminal

Type ahead problems on a Wyse thin client and in citrix

Hello,

I am having problems with typeahead on a Wyse device with citrix. If I enter a password, and do the letter W, it types it 20 times instead of once just on its own. This is typing normally, if I do it lightly it doesn't do it. Keyboard has already been eliminated as the problem, happening to about 20 users.

What setting on the wyse device and citrix resolves this?

Thanks
SMD

Will this setting work for older thin clients that get their image from an FTP Server?

    Thanks

In addition to robshow on Nov 26, 2008:
Network lag may cause this problem (possibly), What is the key-repeat rate on the citrix server? When you say it happens to 20 others, are they using the same kind of thin client?
Also, I experienced this heavily when using a (cheap) wireless keyboard that was too close to the transmitter (right next to it, stupid keyboard) Is this similar to your setup? Also, if you are using wireless keyboards, are there a lot of them near each other? (conflicting signals from other keyboards can also cause this)

Check in the bios or operating system for key repeat rates.

How can i reset S30 wyse box

Try a G-key reset.

Failing that use WSI and an S30 image from the wyse Website.

WDM also has the option to to re-image the client.

You may also be able to get into the control panel of the terminal, and download an FTP image and set the terminal to upgrade from the image when uploaded to your ftp site. From the control panel, you can initate the upgrade manually

Black boxes

In the "experience" tab, uncheck the "bitmap caching" box and the problem will disappear. This is checked by default, but causes the black boxes in most situations unless you uncheck it.

Issues with Keys on Wyse and Citrix

Do you know what image version you are using on this terminal? It might be best to download the latest firmware for the device, and upgrade.

You can download WYSE imaging tools, and images from their website for free.
http://www.wyse.com/serviceandsupport/support/downloads.asp

You can also download ICA client upgrades for your unit from there too. This will hopefully solve your problem.

Hardware reset

Double-clicking the System icon in the Control Panel opens the System Info dialog box.You can use this dialog box to allocate thin client memory and reset the thin client to factory defaults.

The General tab contains a check box that allows you to reset the thin client to factory defaults (the check box is active for administrators only).

You can reset the thin client to factory default settings by selecting the *Reset the terminal to factory-default property settings* check box (the System Settings Change message displays and you can confirm and follow the instructions provided to reset the thin client).
