Question about Philips Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player
Tech support says later models have a button on bottom to release disk when there is a hang up. Is there any way of opening without taking to a service center. Closest Magnavox is 75 miles from me.
Not sure if this is a solution, but that has happened to me a few times and I found if I unplug (or turn off the power strip) and turn it back on, it will open up. but it is a pain and has only happened a couple of times.

Unfortunately you'll have to remove the upper case and take a look. Sometimes you can see a gear that pushes the tray out. If you can turn this gear, the tray should operate. Sometimes you have to remove the upper portion of the drive mechanism. Remove it and remove the DVD, reinstall the top portion of the drive and reinstall the tope case.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
