You will need a better instrument to test to see which one is off the humidistat or the hydrometer.

You could replace the Thermostat with one that allows you to to set it lower, or get a different humidistat that goes from 0-90 , There is always ways around, Thus this great website.

My indoor fan motor comes on even when my thermastat is off

Without knowing more; I can say this; If you have a humidistat, electronic thermostat with humidity control or circ fan setting your system and/or fan can come on with the sytem turned off at the thermostat.

The unit seems to fill up real quickly

That's probably because your indoor air is so humid. Buy a humidistat for your home to see what the relative humidity is. Some fancy clocks come with a built-in thermometer and humidistat.

I have an existing honeywell thermostat - 4 wire hook up. I added a honeywell humidistat. I hooked it up for series operation meaning when we leave the house in south Florida for the summer, the humidstat...

That 's a really good idea. My question would be is that a two wire humidistat? If it is. you would have to parallel the wires. One wire on the "R" on the thermostat and the other would go on "Y" and jumper to "G". Really interesting , I would like to know if it works. I live in Okla. and we have real high humidity summers but probably not like Florida. Hope this helps you.

We have just had a Honeywell H46C humidity controller installed. The technician told us to set both the humidistat and digital thermostat at 65 degrees when we leave the FL condo for the summer. Is this...

If you are leaving for SUMMER, definitely do not need to set at 65, that would be tremendous waste of energy. Humidistat in summer should be off. I wonder if he thought you would be gone during winter.

Hi I have an alto extractor fan in my bathroom but it doesn't activate when I turn on the light. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks

you may have a fan operating from purely from a built in humidistat instead of being operated from the light switched . If that is the case an electrician may be able to alter the wireing to have the light switch overide the humidistat, or even adjust the integral humidistat to a lower setting and operate the boost at a lower relative humidity level.

The compressor cuts on when the weather is warm

Do you have a humidistat or a setting on you thermostat to regulate humidity? that would do it regardless of the temperature.

other then that, the only thing that can close that contactor to run the compressor is the t-stat or loose wire/short of the yellow control wire with the red 24V.

Collecting very little or no water

Given all other variables are the same (location, average humidity, humidistat setting, etc.) I would speculate either:

- the compressor is not running as much as before, or
- the evaporator is icing up and blocking ariflow, or
- the compressor is not getting evaporator coils cool enough, or
- the fan is not running at top speed.

Have you checked for icing?
Has the humidistat setting been inadvertently changed?
Does the fan seem to be operating normally?
Do you hear the compressor "kicking in", or is it just the fan you hear?

I installed a whole house humidifier.... it seems to be working but no increase in humidity

Whole house humidifiers work only when the blower is running. How long has it been installed. It can take 2-4 days to increase the humidity level as all of your furniture, walls etc. are absorbing the humidity first. Many times if you leave the blower in the on position for a day or two it helps to increase the humidity level it just depends on how your system is wired. Also set your humidistat to 40-50%. Did you install it or a professional?
