Question about Husqvarna Huskylock Computerized 936

1 Answer

Fabric select button does not work.

Cannot get the machine away from "Woven Medium" and also unable to delete a memory. It would appear that the fabric select button has failed.

How to sew Lycra on my necchi 522? I'm using a stretch needle. It goes up and down, fabric advances, but does not pick up bobbin thread - so no stitches!

Knit fabric sometimes plays a little havoc with machines. Be sure you are using a brand new needle. Also, ballpoint/jersey needles will usually work better with knit fabrics like t-shirt fabric. For very stretchy fabric like Lycra, you might want to try a Stretch Needle.

If it still will not stitch, check your machine on regular woven fabric with a universal needle. Could be your machine is slightly out of time, especially if you have recently sewn over & hit a pin.

HV sapphire 930 not feeding properly

When stitching together a quilt sandwich, it is recommended to use a walking foot on your machine. The walking foot moves the upper fabric in conjunction with the feed dogs. Sometimes, if the quilt sandwich is not too thick, a roller foot can also help but may not be sufficient for a quilt sandwich.

You may also check the presser foot pressure on your machine. This regulates the amount of pressure the presser foot applies to the fabric and the feed dogs. If the pressure is too strong, it will tend to push the upper layers of fabric, creating a bubble look. If the pressure is too loose, there is not enough pressure for the feed dogs to physically pull entire quilt sandwich under the presser foot.
(The pressure is adjustable depending on the types of fabric and thicknesses being sewn.)

My stitch length is tiny and will not change

When selecting a stich, there's a button with a triangle with one edge pointing down. There you can select Needle Position and Stitch Length. --PDF manual, page 23

The thread tension has no influence on the stitch length. It just adjusts, where needle thread and bobbin thread 'meet' inside the fabric. A too high tension means, the bobbin thread is pulled trough the fabric and can be seen on the upper (needle) side. A too low tension means, the bobbin thread is not pulled through the fabric and you can see the needle thread on the bobbin side.

How can I program a full name into my 1+Husquvarna Sewing machine?

I have the #1 and it should be similar in programming if not the same.

Instructions for the #1 (1200) -- Programming Block Letters
(one model down from the #1+ Husqvarna)
From the machine instruction page for letters and numbers

Ready:
  • .Fabric Woven-medium, stitch & tear
  • .Enter: Woven-medium on your sewing advisor
  • .Consult Info display: Presser Foot B

Program:
Insert Cassette B
  • .Touch SELECT function to PROG
  • .Advance to an empty memory
  • (->) means arrow: .Touch H-> U-> S-> Q-> V-> A-> R-> N-> A (STOP) -> REP

Sew:
  • .Place Stitch & Tear against the wrong side of your fabric.
  • .Stitch the word HUSQVARNA. Easy!
  • .Now, program your name and today's date. Stitch on your sample.

Smaller sizes of letters
You can program a number of letter sizes by - the width before entering the letter. You may want to enter the first letter of a name at 6.0 width and the other letters narrower.

Correcting Errors
You may clear any single stitch but the first one on a program. When the cursor is under the first stitch and you touch CLR, the entire program is erased.

NOTE: The cursor designates the first letter to be sewn.

Borrow sewing machine from sister unsure how to thread it correctly and when i do the thread fromthe needle keeps breaking when i try to sew its a brother XL-5130 sewing machine and i know nothing on how...

you need to go to this webpage http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us_ot/en/doc/manual_index.html?reg=us&c=us_ot&lang=en&prod=hf_xl5130eus&dlid=&flang=English&type2=-1 and download the instruction manual for this model. It has the threading up instructions plus selecting stitches, winding a bobbin etc.

The thread breaking is most likely due to incorrect threading up of the top thread. I suggest that if you can, you print out the manual, put into a little folder and place beside the machine and refer to it often. Follow the instructions in it on winding a bobbin, putting it into the bobbin case correctly and threading up the top thread. Make sure the bobbin goes into the case the correct way, as per image.
tally_girl_40.jpg
Remember, ALWAYS THREAD UP TOP THREAD WITH THE PRESSURE FOOT RAISED, this keeps the tension discs open so the thread can seat into the tension device correctly. And you must get the bobbin thread into the tension spring fully and then place the bobbin case into the shuttle using the little latch so it stays in place.

Also, new needle for every new project, and put the needle in "flat shank to the back". It will take standard domestic sewing machine needles 705/130H but it is important to select the correct sized needle for the fabric you are sewing so that the needle can penetrate the fabric but not leave big holes. So for light weights like chiffon you want a size 60 or 70. For medium weights a size 80 and for heavy fabric like denim or a coat weight wool you would use size 100. Ball points for stretch fabrics so that the needle pushes between the fibres and a regular point for woven fabrics.

I trust this helps you out, 4 thumbs up if so. Thank you.

3 problems - my fix button doesn't work, my reverse button doesn't work and it will only stitch a basting stitch no matter what when it is on the straight stitch.

It sounds like you are in the V menu. Go to the A menu and set an ordinary straight stitch. Also, check the Sewing Advisor - set it for medium weight woven, seam. Check that the feed dogs are up. It may be that the circuitry behind the button panel needs looking at and you need to take it to a repair shop for that.

Does it make a difference whether I use a 14 or 16 in my Kenmore sewing machine, basic 12 stitch. I had a 16 needle in it but after my friend cleaned it, in trying it, the needle hit the presser foot>...

Hi. You use different size needles for different fabrics and fabric weights. Size 16 needles are used for heavy fabric, like canvas, duck, or blue jeans. Size 14 needles are still on the heavy/thick fabric size. Size 10 needles are for very light-weight fabrics and size 12 needles are for medium-weight fabrics. Also, you need to pay attention to the type of fabric--if sewing on knits, you need ballpoint needles. If sewing on woven fabrics, you need sharps or universals. Universals are supposed to be for knits, too....but ballpoint needles are SO much better!
Use the right size and type of needle for your fabric, don't sew over any pins (they can bend or even break the needle), and make sure you don't pull or push the fabric while you're sewing on it. Let the feed dogs do the work of moving the fabric--you just gently guide it.
Hope this helps!

Loose thread tension

You should be able to sew with the tension on 4 for most applications. The only time I've had to change it is for elastic.  I usually sew elastic on 7.   In my experience, when the tension doesn't seem right, I've got the wrong needle for the fabric.  Needles are color coded.  The top of the shank will be yellow or red, for knit or woven fabric.  There will be a band below that of orange, blue or purple for light, medium or heavy fabric.  You want to make sure you have the right needle for your fabric or it isn't going to sew well.  The only things I haven't been able to sew on this machine have been lightweight jersey knit and a really high twist twill.  It would do five layers of twill, but since I'd used twill for the pockets too, it wouldn't do six layers where the seam met the pockets.  I had to get a friend to do that on a commercial machine.  Jersey knit it likes to stuff down into the bobbin case.  I've heard it would do it with a straight stitch foot.  Regardless, you have to pay attention to needle selection.
