Further describing the symtom. When I pushed the ON button, I got lights and fans sounds, but the hard disk seemed not running, and no further response from any keystroke or mouse click.

As for the repair store, can you recommend somewhere in Toronto? Thanks.

If you need to send your PC out for service I would highly recommend CompUSA in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. You can contact them 954-565-1189. This is not the old CompUSA, but one of the stores bought out by Tigerdirect.com last year. Their technical staff is fantastic and very knowledgible and they have very fair prices.
I would first try a couple of things first, though. First, do you hear the fan(s) or hard drive start up and do any lights come on at all? If so, try holding down the F10 key and push the 'on' button. Continue holding down the F10 key until the 'Compaq' screen comes up. You should then get a screen that allows you to choose 'Last known configuration that worked'. (Use the arrow keys and enter button as your mouse won't work on this screen.) If this works, Windows should now boot normally. Go immediately to and 'right click' on My Computer. Go down and 'left click' on Properties. Choose the 'Hardware' tab, then click on 'Device Manager'. Do you see an exclaimation mark next to any listing? If so - right click on that device and choose 'update driver' then just follow the default choices.
If you have no signs of life (no lights or sounds) when you try to start the PC, it's probably a bad power supply (inside) & that probably means a new main board.
If you get lights and sounds (fans, etc.) like it's running normally, but you can't see the screen, it may need a new 'back-light bulb or new screen - probably cheaper than replacing PC.

When I need parts I generally order from tigerdirect.com (based in Miami,Florida - 1-800-800-8300). They are very reasonable and usually quite fast. You probably need a hard drive. Your PC's manufacturer can tell you the biggest size your motherboard will support. There are just a few screws to replace your hard drive and it 'snaps' in place. You will need to re-install your Windows though. If you don't have back up discs, Tigerdirect is also by far the cheapest for a new O/S. If you need any help please let me know! This is a fast easy repair usually only requiring a phillips screwdriver.

Why won't my compaq presario 1250 load windows?

1 - You may need to roll back system with System Restore. Under Safe Mode (press F8 during boot and choose safe mode).
Win 7 - Start > Search type System Restore
XP - Is Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.

2 - Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

Black Screen Compaq Presario

Do you see the BIOS splash screen or anything?
Try booting into safe mode by pressing F* as soon as you power on the computer. If the monitor works, then it is a bad driver. Roll back to a previous restore point, boot to last known good coonfiguration. Last Known good configuration is available from the same as the safe mode screen.

If this is helpful, please comment and rate. Have any other questions, please let me know.

Hp compaq presario v3000 is not loding the OS, show an error

  • as you boot the computer, start tapping the F8 keys
  • From the boot menu, select Safe Mode
If this seems to work, you can try restoring the computer to an earlier point from Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
If Safe Mode also fails to load, you would have to check your disk for errors or you may have to install XP all over again.
Please get back, if you need any further help.

This error message may appear when the computer BIOS is set to boot from a network and cannot find a bootable operating system on the network or on any of the storage devices included in the notebook PC's boot path.

The following steps are for most HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario Notebook PCs. The boot order can be configured on the Advanced tab in the BIOS settings menu. 2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu. NOTE: Some notebook PCs use the F2 or F6 key.
  3. Use the right and left arrow keys to select the Advanced tab.
  4. Use the up and down arrow keys to select Boot Order .
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the boot order.
Reset the boot order to the default settings Use the following steps to reset the boot order to the default settings:
  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.
  3. Press the F9 key to reset the BIOS to default settings.
  4. Press the F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS settings menu.

I think it will you to fix your problem.
If still have problem then tell me more about it.
