Check the wiring around the deck, as all ride on mowers have a cutout system wired to the deck, seat, & also on the rear basket.
One of these wires must be getting earthed to ground causing the engine to shut down.
In most cases I see a lot of mowers coming in with these wires removed . This is not good practice as you could get your toenails trimmed when getting off the mower. So we always replace them !

Some wire wound up around the blades on my riding tractor. I removed all the wire and now when I lower the blades, the mower will not engageshear pin

when the wire wound around the blades, did it move the drive belts? Check the belts on your cutting deck. If the belts are good and are still in the proper pulleys, then it could be the shear pin on the shaft coming from the engine.

I have a Craftsman SL3500 42" riding lwan mower. the two blads make uneven paths ans the left blade makes a cut about 1/4" lower than the right blade. What do I do?

You should be using a up lift blade it will help by sucking up the grass to be cut. You should have an adjust on both sides of the blade deck . As for the strip check to see if you have a wheel behind the mower deck. If you do it might be the cause for mower leaving a strip uncut . Sears has been noted for putting wheels in the path of the blade area and smashing the grass down . That is also why I suggest to use an up draft blade it should **** the grass back up again so you can cut it.

I have a newer 675 Brute Briggs & Stratton, 22 " Self Propelled Lawn mower. The pull crank has seized up and I cannot start it. The blades are not tightened up, nor is there grass or weeds tangled in the...

To start the engine you must depress the flywheel brake lever, located on the top of the handle of the mower. The cable could be broken or seized disallowing you to disengage the brake. It's designed for safety reasons so that when you release the handle the engine will stop suddenly. Also, if that isn't the problem, another possibility-kinda far fetched-is that the coil has come loose and has sucked against the flywheel magnet disallowing you to crank the engine. It's located under the engine shroud. One more possibility.....God forbid....the engine was ran hard without enough oil in the crankcase and is seized. Hope

My Cub Cadet i1042 tractor shuts off when the blade is engaged. This happened after I ran over a ***** and/or stump. Every time I try to engage the blade the engine shuts off.

Check for bent blade against deck housing.Possible you bent something on mowing deck, check all spindles and pulleys. You could have something hung on blade and making contact with deck. Rarely will the motor be hurt from hitting object on rider.

Here's what I have run into many times when all adjustments are correct. If it is not an original equipment belt after market belts vary in length. Which means most times they are usually a bit short. In this case you have two outs. One is to live with it which is not always safe and two get an original equipment belt from a dealer or the manufacture.Good luck.
