Question about Presto HeatDish Compact Heater

Heatdish turns on and off too quickly

When my Heatdish reaches the temperature set by the thermostat, it turns off, but within a few seconds turns back on again. Then continously cycles quickly after that. Is this normal or should it have a larger temperature range between on/off cycles? Thanks...

The sensor in the top of the dish has gone bad and needs to be replaced, or bipassed. if you want to bypass the switch then take the back off and remove the two wires going to the round silver plug looking item at the top and wire them together.
problem solved.

Dyson hot cool will not start

Hi Frank, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your Dyson Hot + Cool fan heater. I'm not sure from your question if your machine isn't running at all, or if it's displaying an error code. However, there are a couple of quick troubleshooting steps you can try.

If your AM05 is displaying an error code, we'd recommend unplugging it for the wall socket for 30 seconds before testing it again. This should reset the machine.

However, if your AM05's LED display lights up as normal, it may not be coming on because the thermostat's target temperature is set lower than the current ambient temperature. Try raising the target temperature degree by degree using the remote or the controls on the base. You should find it will come on once you've set it to heat the room to a higher than ambient temperature.

The Getting started guide I've attached may help, but if you'd like any additional advice from our experts you can reach us on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Legit repair?

The stack blower can fail with the symptom described, but twice within 5 years? Maybe. If the temperature is less than the thermostat setting, there may be a cracked heat exchanger but depends, to some extent, on how old the furnace is.

Simple I should think the thermostats have gone. These are silver round objects with one wire in and one wire out. They have a bimetallic disc inside which flips when a certain predetermined temperature is reached. Sounds like yours is flipping out fairly quickly. Can you hear the fire click just after the element starts turning orange? These thermostats are fairly universal and have a number on them which determines the value. Before investigation definitely unplug the fire as this ill definitely kill you!! You can check the thermostat by disconnecting the wires, and checking the resistance from each terminal when it is cold, it should be an open circuit.....no reading....a simple way to see if it is tripping out very quickly, heat it gently with a hair dryer...if it clicks really quickly......definitely the stat. Also, if there is a trip switch, this would indicate a different fault such as a faulty or burnt wire causing a short circuit. Hopefully this is not the case, especially as it seems you are not blowing a fuse or tripping your fuse box. Good luck. Stats on eBay, same as the type that are used in tumble dryers.

I would start by installing a new thermostat because it sounds to me like it's either the thermostat or the control board and the t-stat is the less expensive of the two. I hope this helps you and thanks.

Not staying lit

Remove the front panel and tape down the door safety switch so the unit can turn on when door is off. Turn up thermostat to make sure there is a call for heat. The circuit board should indicate a call for heat with either a blinking light or a solid light. Then the exhaust fan should turn on clearing the venting from any fumes. When the fan has ran for a few seconds, the igniter should start glowing orange. After it reaches a predetermined temperature, the gas valve should open with a click. The flame will start at the burner closest to the igniter and travel away from the igniter. There is a small flame rod located in the flame path on the last burner that tells the circuit board it feels the flame. If the flame goes off within a few seconds of starting, you have a dirty flame rod. Clean it with a scotch-brite pad. Once you get the flame to stay on for 90 seconds or so, the room air blower will turn on. If it tries 2 or 3 times to start but does not, the circuit board will record a code and display it with a blinking light. Look on the door panel for a wiring diagram. There will also be a Diagnostic chart that will tell you what the pattern of blinking lights represent.

Good Luck!

Where can i locate the on/off machinism for the presto heat dish?

Handy top-mounted thermostatic control maintains the desired temperature automatically plus it has a special safeguard features turn the heater off automatically in case of accidental tip-over. Because of this technology they eliminated an on/off switch. You have to unplug it if you want it to be totally off. sorry
