1 Answer

Picture keeps turning off with volume still on.

When turning on my tv the picture and sound both work. After a minute the picture starts going from black to on and eventually to all black. The volume still works the whole time. When the picture is off the standby light keeps blinking.

Re: Picture keeps turning off with volume still on.

You have a problem with one of the following circuits: video amplifier, ABL (automatic brightness limiting) circuit, crt circuit or in horizontal deflection and high voltage circuits. probably a leaky component that when it get warm it it looses its function or maybe a cold solder. but if u do not know these stuffs better have it check by a qualified service technician.

Try cleaning the little fans that keep the bulb cool, the temp sensor will shut it off so not to damage the bulb , the winning sound may be the fan going bad or not working like it should.

My picture would go out after several minutes but I still had sound. I took the rear cover off and blew all the dust off with compresed air.I did this for a few times over several days nothing happened.I also took off the rear circuit board that attaches to the tube with a round pin socket and blew that with compressed air and put it back on. The TV has now worked for two days without the picture going out. It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delay to see the picture

Your power supply is going south, I have an old sony with the same problem. The voltage level drops and does not have enough 'kick' to start. It will work better when it is warm. The module will need to be replaced.
