SOURCE: i have lost the disc
Hello there, now this is a very annoying situation when it happens, and im forever encountering this type of problem, so i can reassure you that this is the best solution for you and will certainly be a fixya for you.
The single best thing you can do with this printer, is to go to http://www.canon.com and go to the support and downloads section and enter you make and model of printer, once you have done this, you select what opeerating system you have and then start the download...... If you save the file to your desktop then you will be able to find it easily and save it onto a CD ROM. Now it is advisable to download as many as these drivers as you can find for this device, as you have more chance of getting the right one. If you save them into a file on your desktop which strangely enough could be called "printer drivers downloaded" then you will always know where they are. BUT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE INSTALLING AND AFTER DOWNLOADING ANY FILES TO YOUR SYSTEM.
Anyway, if canon dont have your drivers (unlikely unless your printer is either old hat, or in the same time eraas the dinosaurs) then im sure if you type the word "drivers" followed by your printers name into google, then its almost certain that you will get what you are looking for there. Another site yo can try is is driverguide.com or drivers.com.
The final way you can get your printer to work, is connect yourself to the internet, then re-installl the printer, when the operating system says it cannot find drivers, tell it to swann off and look on the internet for them. This may take a while, and on some machines I have been able to run down the pub for a few drinks, come home, do a friday night fry up, and the machine is still looking for those drivers......but if you want them drivers urgently, im sure a few hours looking will put an end to the prospect of having to bin or hive off a perfectly good printer.
Anyway, those are your options, so best of luck on the one you choose and i hope you get that stubbon printer working.
dont forget to make copies of the drivers and burn them onto disc, otherwise if your computer goes wafftie then you will have to do the whole lot again (really really really really annoying)
Also, if you need further assistance please feel free to contact me anytime you like on this site regarding any technical issue, and i will respond to you accordingly.....comments and questions more than welcome
