Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
Red led flashes 3 times indicating lamp is not screwed in properly. No picture No sound and I would love to watch some football this Thanksgiving.
3 blink error = lamp door.
if the lamp door melts and deforms, you have a clogged fan that cools the lamp. then the door won't hit the lamp door switch. the right way to fix is to replace the lamp door and the fan, but you could clean out the fan and just hard wire the lamp door switch to think its closed to fix the problem. just remember that the switch is there so you can't open the door while the lamp is on and burn your eyes with the UV. you can put a jumper wire in the connector that hooks to the wire to the lamp door switch to bypass. cleaning the fan is easy as long as no smoke or grease is mixed with the dust. remove power to the set, remove the back and front as well as the lamp door. take compressed air and spin the fan up to blow the dust out the fan, it will blow straight out the lamp door hopefully. when you look into the back of the tv, the fan will be just above where the lamp is, on top of the engine. it is a non-typical scrirocco type fan.
