No, did as suggested, there was no newer driver for the NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT available
I re installed the version 1.36 of the software from HP and also reinstalled the "monitor driver"
No pivot function although it is indicated in "HP my display"

Try reinstalling the video card and upgrading its driver, and then if it doesn't work try reinstalling the software you have there, if you need help with this drop me a comment.

Check first the video card you are using, uninstall and reinstall the device again.

My cd rom works, but the dvd part does not. I am poor and can not afford to buy a replacement. How can I make the dvd rom work?

You will need to find the make and model number of this DVD ROM device and then visit the makers website. See their support/downloads section.
Once there check for the latest drivers for this particular device for your version of Windows.

Make and model number can be found on the top of the DVD drive, or check Windows device manager. Right click My Computer in the Start menu and Select Properties, then click the hardware tab, then click device manager.

A driver update for this device may be all that it needs.

A last resort would be to flash the firmware of the DVD drive to the latest version. This is a last resort as a failed attempt will render the drive useless. Often though it solves the problem. If you do go for this method, you will need to download and install only the latest firmware update for this EXACT DVD ROM drive must be used.

Take care!

Attention autoconfig please wait -- this message keeps popping up in the monitor continuously. it also adjusts the contrast anf brightness some times automatically. please help

Sounds like the "auto config " is built in to your monitor. It selects screen sizing based on the resolution, sync timing, refresh rate, etc... that your video card is adjusting on the computer.

I would suggest you to try changing the resolution in Windows and see if still receive the alert.

For more information on Screen resolution and display on monitor, check the below Microsoft Help & How-To Articles:

1:
Change screen resolution :-
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Change-screen-resolution

2: Getting the best display on your monitor :-

3: Troubleshoot monitor and video card problems :-
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-monitor-and-video-card-problems

If it is doing it often and you are not changing screen resolution I would say the monitor itself might have issues. It's possible your display driver may be corrupted. I would suggest you to download and install the latest drivers for the Monitor from the manufacturer's website.

For more information on Updating a Driver and fixing driver problems, check the below Microsoft Help & How-To Articles:
1: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

2: Tips for fixing common driver problems
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Tips-for-fixing-common-driver-problems

Check the plug and cable, look for bent pins or pins pushed in.
Are you using one of those DVI/VGA adapters? If your monitor has dual inputs (DVI & VGA) have you tried using the other input?

Anyway you could check if the issue exists when the monitor is connected to another PC? Or maybe try another monitor on your PC?

Is the creative soundblaster 5.1 digital sb0220 card compatible with this series dell desktop

the device should work properly with a complete software and drivers instalation cd. i strongly recommend going to creative web link below and at the bottom of the page, and click the software auto update icon. this will insure that you have the latest up to date software and drivers available as to your exact operating system.

the most likely issue is the computer's graphics card. to avoid extra problems, try replacing it with the same model graphics card.

Monitor Help

Two things: one, the pivot may be really tight and therefore doesn't move easily. Two, the pivot on that monitor doesn't have much range. It ranges from looking slightly downward, to slightly upward. The pivot will give before you break anything so long as you're not trying to force it past the limits.

Check your video card settings. Did it ever work or is this a new monitor? Get the latest drivers from the manufacturer's site and install those. Update Windows too as there may be an update dealing with your monitor.

My new hp w2207h monitor, pop up keep telling me to install driver. when i install driver a error message comes up.what should i do.

Go to - CONTROL PANEL - DEVICE MANAGER then find monitors in the list, right click the desired device, then PROPERTIES this will tell you if the device is working properly. then click update drivers. If this fails check your screen resolution settings. The safest thing is to set it to default.Sometimes the graphics card isnt big enough for the monitor so try tweaking visual settings like shadows and fonts. Things like message box outlines and shadows can be turned off too speed the image up.If your using vista your probably using the default theme AERO/GLASS. Change it to a normal theme of your choice but dont use GLASS. this uses quite alot of graphics power.

Lg w2242t lcd screen is one week old and goes black occasionally when zooming or changing windows, it plays video perfectly, running dvi connection and latest lg driver, rolled back driver to windows plug...

According to your manual, the recommended resolution for this monitor is 1680 x 1050 @ 60 hz. Is this the display setting you are using? Manual is at http://www.lge.com/products/mobile/cdma_manulist_gcsc.jsp.

You should be able to use the driver supplied by the manufacturer, and it should not cause problems! If you are in the U.S., support contact info is at http://www.lge.com/support/gcscWrite.jsp, and includes phone number. Given that this monitor is new, I would suggest telephoning LG for support, and if it is not resolved sufficiently, returning the monitor. This monitor should run perfectly with the supplied driver, and if not, there is a hardware malfunction or conflict. LG should be able to tell you definitively if there is a way to solve the problem, and if not, suggest that you return and replace it.

Please post back if you need more help, otherwise thank you for using and rating FixYa!
