Question about RCA MM52110 52" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Open Question

Static from surround sound

Bose surround sound speakers attached to Techniques SA-AX530 Dolby surround sound/pro logic receiver (at least 10 years old:).

Never had problem, past several months have been having static over speakers at times. When I touch/slap receiver on the left front to rear portion of the unit, the static leaves. When I wiggle or jostle the speakers, the static continues. Static happens wether I am watching tv, dvd, or playing cd's in the cd player (also attached to the receiver)....Help! Some think the receiver is going bad, if you think so, what might it be, or what else might be causing the problem and what should I try to do to resolve the issue.

SOURCE: Surround Sound gets static

I'm trying to understand if the speakers are connected directly to the TV, or via an amp. If you have an option try connecting them through an amp so that the TV doesnt have to amp them, you'll get better results. even if there was no static in the first place its a better idea. Good luck!

SOURCE: Static audio on certain channels

Try tapping on the different boards and see if the sound comes back while you are doing it,use a wooden or rubber handle and be attentive to where you tap the chassis and that way you will know where the resoldering is needed wheter you do it or you call someone to do it,try following the speaker wires and they will lead you where the sound is processed but also try to tap on the tuner and that is the silver box where the antenna screws in,by now your set will also have a few other overheated areas that need resolder too.The back will be remove and the set will be on ,dont let your boy touch anything and be careful when you are doing it.Let Us know if you need more information.

SOURCE: No audio...only static

This is caused by a corrupted signal being sent out by one of the stations you are watching. There is definitely NO PERMANENT SOLUTION to this problem. Just keep unplugging the TV.

Can you have just 2 channel by hooking up to right & left front speaker posts on 5.1 surround

short answer.....no. If you hook more than one speaker up to a single channel, it will lower the impedence and will damage the amp. You can hook up multiple speakers by using a speaker switch box between the speakers and the amp. This will match the impedence and should keep the amp from blowing.

From the Console Settings screen in the System area of the Xbox Dashboard, you can configure the video output of your Xbox 360 console for a widescreen, high-definition TV, determine your audio options, and check your console's serial number and Xbox Dashboard version.
Go to correct section for ... Audio

Change your audio output settings for games from this screen. These audio settings do not affect DVD movie playback. For DVD audio settings, refer to an individual DVD movie's setup screen.

Settings consist of:

  • Analog Output Settings: choose Mono to merge the left and right audio signals so that you can hear all sound through a connection to a monaural TV or monitor; choose Dolby Pro Logic II to listen in normal stereo (no audio surround receiver required) or to listen to Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II soundtracks from compatible games or other media.

Dolby Pro Logic consists of four channels of audio: front left/center/right and a monaural surround channel that is mirrored in each of your rear left/right speakers. Dolby Pro Logic II uses digital signal processing to generate 5.0 audio (front left/center/right, rear left/right) from any stereo (left/right) programming, whether from movies, music, or games. Unlike movies and music, however, games are specially encoded with Dolby Pro Logic II decoding in mind.

To listen in either Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound, you must connect your cable's left/right (white/red) RCA connectors to a compatible surround receiver. For more information, see our connection page for the cable you're using:
  • Digital Output Settings: configure this setting only if you'll be using the Toslink optical digital-audio output from a compatible Xbox 360 AV cable (optical digital-audio cable sold separately):

The default digital-audio setting is Dolby Digital 5.1. If this is your preference, you do not have to make a selection from this screen.

Whent I connet my android to my samsung HTC55 using the aux 2, just one speaker work, that is correct? is there a way to connect my android and all my speakers work

Your Android phone can only output in mono or stereo, but it does not have a surround sound decoder, so it cannot output natively to a 5.1 surround sound system. However, your HTC550 has a Surround Sound Mode called Dolby Pro Logic II, which will simulate 5.1 sound from any stereo input. Try activating Dolby Pro Logic II mode on your receiver to get surround sound on your Android phone.

No sound from rear/ surround speakers on Bose V20

Yes, very easy and cheap if you get it from the right place. Fiber Optic going from the output of the device to the input of the receiver. If your lucky enough to have an input/output fiberoptic in your tv, run the fiber from the device to the tv input, fiber the output of the tv to the receiver so not only are you getting the device full surround sound, but you'll also get better TV surround sound for those that are made with Dolby pro logic II sound. (pretty much all the newer movies and shows)

Problem with speaker wires making contact in back of reciever on

Open up the receiver and check for poor solder connections @ the spkr junctions.

If you can solder, then solder a pin that is THICKER than the wire to it, the Bose wire is fairly thin and the spring clips don't clamp to heavily to thin stuff.

When you push the surrounds in you bottom them out in the connector. Having a thicker wire will eliminate the problem, use a piece of 12ga solid wire from house wiring. Make as many as you need and shrink tube all connections after soldering. Use White for + and Black for -.
