Question about Fujitsu S6120D PC Notebook
My Fujitsu S6120 laptop, with the power-supply connected, keeps going into "standby" mode thinking there is no power. The power socket has a slight wiggle and I think is the source of this problem. Can some tell me how to get to the motherboard of my laptop? There are a bunch of screws on the bottom of my laptop and a couple of screws in rear of the latop. Do I need to remove all of these screws? Thanks.
I fixed my S6210 wen the poorly designed connector broke. Fujitsu wanted $ 250 to do the job. The part is only $ 5. I also bought a Cable Retention Device to keep from jerking on the cable.
Here's a video that talks about the problem and the cure.. . .

Hi Altos, I found lots of people suffering from the same problem, the DC connector is only held in place by the contacts soldered on a small circuit board. It?s a poor design and apparently Fujitsu will do free repairs as long as it?s still within its warranty period otherwise you have to pay. Another option is to pay to have someone else do the job for you. I found one shop one Ebay of all places. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/FUJITSU-LAPTOP-MOTHERBOARD-AC-DC-POWER-JACK-REPAIR_W0QQitemZ320067658030QQihZ011QQcategoryZ51162QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem If you have fairly good mechanical skills and are not afraid of ruining your laptop further you have another option, disassemble the laptop and repair it yourself. This is generally not an easy task for the typical user and I need to reinforce that you need to be fairly comfortable using tools, doing low wattage soldering on circuit boards and working on small, fragile plastic parts. Unfortunitly I have never worked on a Fugitsu laptop nor was I able to find any instructions on anything other than a S2000 series. Again from what I have read disassemble is *similar*, here is that link: http://www.leog.net/fujp_forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8382 This site should have your replacement DC jack. http://www.laptopjacks.com/index.php?brand=10 I also poked around Ebay and guess what, they sell the same part: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=fujitsu%20jack&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=95035&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi= Let us know how it goes and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
