Hello i have a 20" 2005fpw dell monitor i had it for 2 years until it started flickering on and off, when i boot up the computer its fine when ime running applications or on the internet for about 4 minutes it starts flashing on and off, speacialy when ime online the screen starts to flicker even faster when ime surfing the internet but you can still see the screen but its anoying flickering makes me turn the monitor off for about 2 minutes and then turn it on again it stops flickering but about 4 minutes later its back to its crazy flickering. does anybody have good solution for me on what to do.
I had this problem with my Dell 2005FPW as well, it was the inverter, i ordered the part for around $60 after S&H and installed it at home.

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.
