The only way to get drivers for your laptop is to go to the makers support page . I have a gateway FX laptop and I get my drivers from them.. you will know you found the right page because it will look something like this http://support.gateway.com/support/default.asp I have gateway but the makers site for your laptop may be different so google sony support/ dell support/ or what every you may have.

What is the base system device on my Dell laptop?

A base system device is any hardware device pre-installed on your laptop, such as a CD-rom drive, a USB port, an Ethernet port, video card, etc. These devices all require pre-installed drivers that were supplied by Dell with the factory setup. The most common problem is to have one of these driver files corrupted or deleted by accident. To solve a base system device driver problem, you have to go into Windows Device Manager (Look in Control Panel), and look for devices listed with yellow question marks or other indications that they have a missing driver. You either then go to the Dell support site for your laptop model, or the driver disk you may have gotten with your laptop, and reinstall the needed driver.

Bluetooth driver cant be installed

Please chose the exact driver for your laptop model. It is unlikely that your Bluetooth device is broken. Please check the bluetooth device item in the Control Panel. If it is detected by the system, then all you need is download the driver for this Bluetooth device and its application. Some Bluetooth device need separate and or proprietary application.

Driver needs to update

1. If your laptop has internet access, use Device Doctor to scan and locate any missing drivers. Device doctor will provide a download link to any missing drivers.
2. If you have no internet access, you will need to goto your laptop manufacturer's website and search for drivers for your specific model of laptop (model number is usually located on the bottom of the laptop).
3. Be wary of other driver scanner programs, the vast majority are malware/spyware. Device Doctor is a program I use everyday at work.

I downloaded the driver but it doesn't recognize

When you download the Tinkpad device drivers, they need to be the XP or Vista versions that match the Windows that is installed on your laptop.
When you run the driver programs they will be unzipped/expanded to the hard drive in a folder c:\drivers. Then you need to open the various folders and run the setup programs to install the various drivers.
NOTE - The Thinkpad laptops are installed with various different manufacturers devices (eg. there are a few different wireless model LANs). Therefore your laptop may have different hardware devices to another Thinkpad even if they are the same model. If one version driver doesn't work you need to install a different one. It is a bit of trial and error to find the right one.
