Canon XL1S eats tape as soon as it's inserted.

It needs to go in for cleaning and service. It is a vintage recorder and the rubber feed capstans are probably sticky and need replacing.

It is a known issue.

HOW DO I RECORD AN EVENT DIRECTLY TO THE MEMORY CARD? (canon zr50)

Unfortunately, most camcorders can only use the memory card for photos. You cannot record video onto your memory card on a Canon ZR50.

Hi,
It seems MiniDV tape mechanism got bad and need to be replaced, it is costly part that is available with partstore.com under following part number..

Thanks.

Have a canon zr20. everytime I place a tape in it it tells me to eject the tape and when I do the tape is pulled from the cassette like the camcorder is eating it.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.
