Cannot sign in to my hotmail email account, have forgotten password and the forgot password link is unhelpful as it sends an email to you on how to change your reset your password but how can i access this email if i cannot sign in?

Log in to your alternative email address and click the email provided.
Your email user name is available in the body of the email.
Click the link within that email to reset your email password.
To reset your email password, the provider might require that you answer your security question.
Go back to the email sign-in page and log in using your user name and new password.

if you have forgotten your name of a certain account they must have a utility for forgotten passwords and account names which can send you an email containing both user name and password
if they do not have this facility you might have to open another account
remembering to make a log of your user name and password
