Question about Garmin StreetPilot c340 GPS Receiver
I have a Magellan Roadmate and figured there might be a way to find the position of a certain unit using the serial number, or specific product number.
Garmin has a large hard drive with all the points of interest inside the device.
All the device does is read the GPS coordinates that are broadcasted by the GPS satellites and processes data based on what it receives. It doesn't need to send any information to a central server.
If GPS was able to communicate two ways, there wouldn't be a need to purchase map upgrades for new roads, points of interest, etc...
I just got my Garmin stolen within the past 23 hours, and as much as I wish there was a way, there isn't...

No. Garmin only receives info, it doesn't send it. So you can't trace it. I also have the same problem.

You can trace anything, the gps is a global positioning system, it sends out waves to many satilites in space and then bounces back, its like saying u cant trace a cell phone yes you can, it has radio frecencies that bounce from tower to tower
