Question about Philips Senseo HD-7810 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

Hello, I have a Senseo HD7842/00 (Alu) coffee machine, which still physically works, but for some reason none of the lights come on any more. The small LCD screen is no longer back lit (used to light up blue), and the status buttons on the bottom of the machine no longer illuminate either. I am wondering whether I've accidentally pressed a combination of buttons that disabled the lights (when cleaning?) or whether the unit is faulty. Do you have any ideas? Many thanks, Craig.

I have cleaned my senseo , but the red light still is on. what do i do next?

Do not turn off the machine until all 4 cycles are complete (2 descaling & 2 rinsing ). The machine will then switch itself off. This is not properly explained in the instruction booklet.

Turned machine on this am,power light came on for a few secs, then went off...cannot turn on use my senseo every day...please help

Try another wall socket, and fumble a little with the wire - it may have been damaged. If you can notice a relation between moving the wire and the Senseo switching on and off, the wire should be replaced.

Hi, while making coffee, I forgot to put a cup in the machine and the coffee flowed over. I cleaned it up, but now the senseo won't start. No lights come on. I wanted to see if maybe inside it got wet, but...

Usually, overflowing won't harm the machine in any way; it's built for that. Even if liquid somehow would get into the device, it will remain fully functional in 99% of the cases once it's fully dried again.

Opening the bottom will void any warranty you may still have. If a Senseo doesn't do anything please make sure it's plugged into a working wall socket (check the wall socket using another applicance). Wall socket OK, but still no joy? The internal fuse may have blown - but it's recommended you leave repairs to a qualified mechanic.

Senseo machine has started producing very weak coffee

I don't know if you've tried this, but it works like gangbusters for me. I use non-senseo pods with the 2-pod holder, and they're too big for the 1-pod holder but not quite big enough for the 2-pod one.

I would frequently end up with a lousy, weak cup of coffee, and after a little investigation I deduced that water was flowing into the pod holder and AROUND the pod, without going THROUGH the pod directly. The name-brand senseo pods fit perfectly, and always produce a strong cup, even if I don't like their coffee, and it's because there's such a tight seal between where water flows in and where it flows out.

Simple solution: Put your pod in with the flat part facing up, and the bulgy part facing down. Press it down hard into the 2-cup holder. Run a little HOT tap water, and lightly wet the surface of the pod--not so much water that the pod starts floating in the holder, but enough to get it soggy. Then make your cup of coffee. The water will flow through the pod first, and kind of like siphoning gas through a hose, once it's started going through the pod it won't stop. Instant awesome cup.
