Dell dimension 370 randomly shuts down orange light flashes on pwr button

I suspect your graphics card or processor is overheating and shutting itself off to prevent damage.

Cool the unit down with additional fans, introducing cool air and exhausting warm air is key to a reliable, stable computer system.

The reason for this sudden problem is most likely because a higher resolution on the new monitor is supported, therefore making the computer work much harder than before.

Take care!

It is very likely that you have a virus. You should run a scan on your computer with your current Anti-virus software or find one online. I would recommend AVG or Windows Defender.

Samsung monitor

Try to plug the monitor into another computer and see if the problem reappears.

If the problem reappears - you have a monitor failure...if not, try checking the monitor connection at the computer side for bent pins or loose video card in your computer and test again.

Lastly, make sure your computer is not coming out of hibernation power mode (control panel, power settings etc).

Hope this helps!

Acer shut down

ok go to control panel, then power options and check that the option states that when you press the shutdown button, it powers down. You also may need to check inthe bios (F2 or Del on boot up) and go to standard cmos settings or the advanced cmos settings and see if ACPI is enabled, if not enable, then save settings and exit and a reboot will follow.
