How to clean clogged condensate drain of ruud furnace achiever 90 plus

You can easily blow through the drain with pressurized air through the p trap. There could be a number of reasons the furnace side is not working. In the case of windy conditions there is a possibility that your pilot will need to be adjusted or the flame sensing rod might need to be cleaned. If the pilot wavers off of the sensing rod it could cut off the heating cycle because the system could not verify a flame yo bring on the main gas valve to continue with the cycle

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace-water leaks from the drain pipe

This furnace should condense, as long as it goes into the drain. If it is leaking inside the furnace, there may be a seal that needs replacing in either the pvc drain pipe or concentric drain trap needs resealed.

Hello, it sounds like your condensate line is clogged and not be able to drain into the condensate pump or your condensate pan is cracked and leaking. Best thing to do is clean the condensate line with a shop vac and see if the water will start to drain, if not looks like the pan is cracked.

Make sure all of the condensate lines are open. The Hose and traps from the furnace. With the cold weather the Furnace is running alot more and Condensing more water from the Flue Gases.
The Furnace can produce up to 5 Gals of water in an 8 hour period. If the drains are all open then you better get a professional to check out the furnace you could have a cracked secondary Heat exchanger which could be leaking carbon monxide into the house. Do you have a CO2 Detector in the house??

wow why are you turning it so low ?Most t stats only red down to 40 .I would check and make sure vents are free and not frozen also if you have to continuously drain that trap check the level on the furnace it should be tipped slightlytowards the drain

My furnace will not start the ignition process unless I disconnect the pressure switch (combustion tube not blower tube). What could be the cause? It's a new pressure switch. The vent pipe is clean.

I assume when you say you disconnect the pressure switch you mean you jump the wiring terminals? You say your vent is clean, but what about your combustion air inlet piping? Is it clear. It is not unusual for a furnace to sit over the summer and have the condensate drain trap dry out. This drain will drain the condensation from the blower and discharge to drain. If there is no water in the trap, it can allow air to flow up through the drain, which will cause a drop in the negative pressure. Try "priming" the trap by pouring enough water down drain hose until water comes out by the drain. If that doesn't work check to be sure motor is going full speed and that there are no creatures that have crawled into your inlet piping over the summer.

I have a GMPN080 horizontal gas furnace in attic of my home. What is the purpose/function of the drain trap assembly in furnace. Cooling coil is external to furnace?? Please advise, looks as if someone has...

The reason for the trap is to compensate for the negative pressure the drain line is under. Since the blower is pulling the air, if the trap wasn't there, then the drain wouldn't drain properly.

By having a trap, your blower is pulling air back through the trap while the condensate water is allowed to flow and drain.

With that being said, if you have water forming in your emergency pan, its an indication that the main drain line is clogged up. If you know where the drain line exits the home, take a small shop van and vacuum out the drain line. If its really backed up, it will sound like a golf ball through a garden hose.

If your trap has a clean-out installed, I would recommend pouring some hot water and bleach combination down the trap itself after you have cleared and flushed the drain. The bleach will assist in killing any mold/mildew that has accumulated in the drain.

Also, while your in your attic, ensure your emergency pan has a float switch and that its operating properly.

Itseems as though the condensation trap on Lennox G26 not working

Hi!
Take of both access covers on your furnace. In the bottom compartment (where the indoor blower fan is) there is a condensate trap, It will be black, gray, or white. Disconnect the rubber tubing that is connected to it (these tubes run up to the collector box in the top compartment. Remove the condensate trap and wash it out until it is clean inside. You will have to shake it some to get all the dirt out of it. Reinstall it and you should be good to go. Hope I was of help to you!! Good Luck!!
