Indesit WI101 tripping Electric RCD

Hi,
I can plug it in and the power light will stay on, but as soon as I close the door and it tries to start a program, it trips the RCD. It is only just over 2 years old and gets light use, brushes in the motor are fine, I have checked for any obvious wiring fauls or wear, element is also fine, can anyone help??

unplugged the motor and that seems to have stopped the washer tripping the RCD, thanks tresilla, I have taken off the motor and given it the once over, checked all connectors for corrosion dampness, damaged wires etc, all looks good inc the bushes, so I suppose this means I need a new motor?

Try running with the element disconnected and the wires taped up. usual cause is the element down to earth.
try same procedure with the motor disconnected

I have a Maytag GC2227 and it is tripping an RCD. If the fridge temperature setting is switched to off the RCD does not trip but as soon as the temperature setting is adjusted the RCD??

Refrigerators are never supposed to be on GFCI devices, they will tend to "leak" a bit of current to ground during defrost and "trip" when there is no real problem... You can test this theory by plugging the machine into a two-prong adapter to see if it still exhibits the same symptom, the only problem I have seen in home refrigerators that can trip a 20 amp circuit break is a seized compressor that is drawing "locked rotor amperage." By design, the start relay/overload should interrupt power before this happens... Hard Start Kit RCO410

Rcd tripping

Either the start relay in the compressor is grounding electrically or the defrost heater is (most likely start relay). To replace this yourself is difficult as it requires technical knowledge. If you are located in California, bay area I could help you personally

Machine partially fills and then stops working.

THE RCD SWITCH is concealed on the inner side of the hindges of the door or on the top innerside of the door. it is a simple push switch which has a mechanism of push to on/off
this switch has got stuck in off position.
change this switch or spray a drop of rust removal oil. it will start functioning

If it goes dead or blows the breaker when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
