Most thermopile/therocouple units are generic.  Remove the old one and go to a large hardware store.  The correct one will be easily found among the several available.

The Thermocouple or Thermopile has failed and needs to be replaced. The Thermocouple is a safety feature that keeps the pilot burning if all operations of the gas valve are safe. If the pilot burns, the burners will light. The Thermocouple shuts off the gas control valve if the pilot goes out.

Pilot is lit ,but when i turn the thremostat on nothing.

Has the control knob been turned from the PILOT position to the ON position?
If that has been done, check the wiring from the thermostat to the Gas Control Valve in the heater. Make sure the wires are connected in both places (T-Stat & Control Valve). If all of that appears to be correct, there's a good chance that the Thermopile (I think Williams calls it a Pilot Generator) has failed. This part generates millivolts of electricity to open and close the gas valve when the Thermostat calls for heat. But, don't confuse the Thermopile with the Thermocouple. Your unit has both. And since the pilot is burning, that tells me it's not a problem with the Thermocouple.

Anyway, the only way to test the thermopile is with a millivolt multimeter. You will have to consult your Owners Manual for the proper millivolt output for your heater.

Hope this helps head you in right direction in solving this problem.

My empire wall furnace does not ignite. It has gas flowing because the pilot is light, i have changed the thermostat and wired it two different ways in case I reversed them. What is next? Could it be the...

It could be several things: Is the Control Knob turned from Pilot to ON? If that is the case, wait a few minutes after turning it to ON. That will allow the Thermopile to heat up sufficiently. Be sure the flame is touching the Thermopile. If everything looks correct turn up your Thermostat to higher than the ambient room temperature and see if the burners light. Remember to turn your Wall Thermostat down to the lowest temperature setting before turning the knob from Pilot to ON.

FYI - That Wall Furnace does not have a Thermocouple. It uses a Thermopile instead to generate millivolts of electricity to open the gas valve and maintain the pilot flame.

If it is the Thermopile, you can order it directly from Empire Comfort Systems, as well as download your Owners Manual at

I am needing to to buy a thermal coupler for a dyna glo wall mount heater model #RMC50NGT where do I find one???

Almost any hardware store carries thermocouples and thermopiles. Take your old one with you so you get the right length.

Heater does not stay on for more than a few minutes

You may need to disassemble the pilot module and clean the orifices. It sounds like the pilot is not maintaining sufficient flame to the thermocouple or thermopile, whichever the unit has. If there is sufficient flame, then the thermocouple or thermopile may be bad. Check all connections of those two components as well.

Pilot light wont stay lit when button is released

If the thermocouple is being well covered by the pilot flame, then it sounds like the thermocouple or thermopile is bad (a thermocouple and thermopile both perform the same way, but are entirely different devices. I am unsure which yours has.
Also, make sure all connections from the t-couple of generator are snug tight to the gas valve. There may also be a temperature sensor that has tripped that prevents the pilot from remaining lit. Follow the thermocouple/thermopile tubing to locate any inline sensors that may be open, preventing the signal reaching the gas valve.

Let me know if I can help more. I have not been able to find any information on this specific unit, so will have to speak in general about what to look for.
