Green/Blue distorted Colors

Our 4 year old Sanyo started having issues where the picture would compress from top to bottom and end up with a line across the middle. Now, the colors are a green/blue for the entire picture with the picture actually being distorted. Is this worth fixing?

There is no Red in the picture. No, I don't think the blue and green overlap. For instance, the people's faces are green and the background is blue.

  • mark_mastran Nov 26, 2008

Looking at it now, Red comes and goes, based on what they are showing. Most of the time just green and blue, then Red shows up occasionally.

    Sure, it is Sanyo HT-30744

Thanks for helping, that will help me make up my mind in either spending money to get it fixed or just going out and buying a new LCD!

It sounds like a degaussing problem. Are there any shades of red in the picture? Do the blue and green overlap each other?

Color issues are harder to solve without seeing the problem. It sound like the red amplifier on the crt board is bad. Is there any red in the picture at all? If not, that will be you problem

It is obvious that ther are some colr/tint issues. These are ussually related to either to much or not enough color drive. In your case I believe the red is the problem. Do you have a model number? I can search my database to see if threr is a history of this problem. I don't think it is a common problem. The worst case scenario is that the crt is bad.

I researched my database. I don't see anything obvious. With that particular model, the biggest problem is the vertical IC (which you have already seen that problem). With the color problems, it is hard to isolate without being there with the back off the set. You could have video IC problems, CRT, or the video drivers on the crt board. I wish I could narrow it down for but that is kind of where we are at.

With the day after thanksgiving sales going on, there are some graet deals outhere if you are willing to get up early. Let me suggest that when buying an LCD, get a name brand (Samsung, LG Sony, etc) and purchase the extended service policy as long as it is not to expensive. The problem is that repair part for LCD tv's are expensive. With LCD's, very seldom do I go in and replace an individual component. It is usuallt board level repair. And some of these boards are not cheap. An extended service policy could pay for itself with one repair. I do this for a living, and even with my discounts, I would by one to cover the cost of parts.

Installed a new set top box last night and all the channels are black and white - no colour at all - confused!!

Check your cables between the receiver and your TV to make sure the colors match. If you are using a component cable (green, blue, red, white, red), not matching colors at both ends will give you what appears to be a black and white picture. I hope this helps.

I purchased a Grundig GUD1500XI2 Digital Freeview Box for my old small TV. Unfortunately it insists on filling the TV screen on 4.3 ratio by cutting off the sides of the picture. If 16.9 is selected it...

Please remember all modern Digital Set Top boxes are designed with HD LCD/Plasma TV's in mind. Their default aspect ratio is 16 : 9. The reverse was possible- LCD/Plasma allow you to change their viewing aspect ratio from 16 : 9 to 4:3 ( some models also allow 14:9 ).
You will have to return the box if it makes it intolerable for you to watch geometric distortions !!

What is wrong? The HDD and video pictures are pink/purple. The video reception is fine. Is there a not too expensive solution for our two year old machine?

malcolm_cane

Do you have a DVD player or game player connected to your TV? If so, do you get the same colors for the picture? If you do, then there may be a problem with your TV. If you don't get the same colors for your picture when you play a DVD or a game, then try to replace the cable between the receiver and your TV. I hope this helps.

Just got dish a week ago everything fine. Yesterday the power went off and now the main TV has arch screen and three different colors on everything on the TV and TV 2's screen is just blue

wvpotts0,

Are you still having problems with your receiver? Depending on the type TV you have, TV 1, on an older TV will use channel 3 of 4. A newer TV will have an input setting. If you have the TV remote, press either the "input", "source", or "tv/video" button to cycle through the input settings till you find a picture. Make sure the green, blue, and amber lights are lit on the receiver. TV 2 should be on channel 60 or 73. I hope this helps.

How do you connect a Sansui STB-HD01 (set top box) to an LCD tv?

Hi trishallan! I will be more than glad to assist you in this concern.. On the back of your Sansui STB-HD01 (Set top box) there is an input name - ANT In- Attached an external antenna to this terminal. If your LCD TV is an HDTV you can use the HD-YPbPr (you will see there Red, Green, Blue) on the back of the Sansui-STB-HD01, The cable that your going to use is the component cable - the color is Red, Green, Blue) - connect the 1st end to the back of the sansui-set top box and the other end is going to your LCD-TV. If your LCD TV is not and HDTV you cand use the other terminal which is on the right side of the HD-YPbPr, the SD-YPbPr, you can use the same cable - the Red, Green, Blue, .. then there is s display switch-Set this switch in conjunction with MODE switch according to your TV display capability.and there is a mode select- Set this switch in conjunction with DISPLAY switch according to your TV display capability, then u need to tune in the tv to compionent channel, use the LCDtv remote to cycle the input of your tv.

if you have any query please feel free to get in touch..

Tv set picture is gone

It depends, the center line you speak of, does it go from side to side? Or top to bottom? Side to side you have problems in the vertical circuit. Top to bottom you have a problem in the horizontal circuit. Not picture tube problem. If it is an analog tv and depending on how old it is. What an estimate and the actual repair would be you are better off buying a new one.
