I have not been able to open the yahoo.com site at all

There are several problems that could cause you not to be able to login to your Yahoo email account. Each will be discussed below.

PHISHING or HACKING

First, have you replied to any emails that requested your Yahoo email login information? If so, your password may have been changed by someone else. If you listed an alternate email address when you signed up for Yahoo? If so, on the Yahoo sign in page you can click on 'Forgot Password' and an email can be sent to your alternate email address that will allow you to set a new password. Or - you can answer the security questions to gain access to your Yahoo account as well.

PROBLEMS WITH YAHOO MAIL AUTOMATIC SECURITY

Yahoo security programs will result in you not being able to log into your Yahoo email account. Yahoo has several security features which cause many problems.

If you know that the problem is not caused by entering an incorrect user name or password, there is a work-around to get into Yahoo mail. And, it takes less than 5 minutes to set it up. However, you must use the Firefox browser to do so.

(Note: Every time I've recommended this solution to anyone for their Yahoo Mail problem, it's worked.)

The easiest way to sign into your Yahoo email account is to use Firefox as your browser and download the Webmail notifier add-on for Firefox.

With the click of a mouse, you'll be sent directly to your Yahoo email page without having to manually sign in to Yahoo mail and it will bypass Yahoo's security features that cause login problems.

Click here to download Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4490

ADDING EMAIL NOTIFIER TO FIREFOX:

To add Webmail Notifier to your Firefox toolbar click here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4490

1) After downloading Webmail notifier and re-starting Firefox, right click in an empty area on your TOP toolbar in Firefox and select, 'Customize.' (A window with icons will open.)

2) Locate the icon of a small envelope. (This is the Webmail notifier icon.) Then, drag the 'envelope icon' to your upper toolbar and click, 'Done'.

3) Once the envelope has been placed on the top toolbar in the Firefox browser, right click on the envelope icon and choose, 'Options'. (A window will open.)

4) Select, Yahoo from the drop down menu.

5) Type in your full Yahoo email address in the 'User Name' box. (ie.: [email protected])

6) Type in your Yahoo mail PASSWORD in the password box.

7) Click, 'Add'

8) Make sure 'Enable Login' is checked that the bottom of the box.

9) Click, 'OK'.

Now, when you want to go to your Yahoo email just click on the little envelope icon and you'll be sent straight to your email page in Yahoo. You will never need to login to yahoo again.

Tip: The envelope icon will remain gray when you don't have any unread emails in your Yahoo mail 'In Box', but will turn yellow when you do have new emails.
