SOURCE: Washer will not run pump

Check your lid switch. This is a tell tale symptom of a lid switch gone bad. The washer fills, agitates, but will not spin or drain. The lid switch is located along the right hand side of the lid opening on most models, but some newer models have a switch in the left rear of the lid. Simply open and shut the lid several times and listen for a distinctive "click" of the lid switch as you open and close the lid. A lid switch usually runs about $35 to replace. If you provide me with your washer model number (usually located under the lid somewhere) I can give you the part number you need. That is...if the lid switch is the problem. The only other problem that I have encountered that caused the same symptoms, was a bad timer. Timer vs Lid Switch: Lid switch is a cheaper fix. I would try this option first. Let me know if this helps and/or if you need more guidance.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune fron load washer No-spin, noisy motor

Fang, there is no clutch. That's a 3 phase motor and the growling that you hear is one of the windings (phases) has failed. There is a new motor conversion kit from Maytag. The part number is 12002039. It lists for about $215.00 and can be purchased at your local appliance parts retailer or ordered online.

Replacing this motor may seem daunting if you've never done one... but can be accomplished in about an hour or so. If this is something you feel comfortable repairing, go for it. There are no special tools required and an instruction sheet comes along with the new motor. (if you do the repair, you'll find that it'll run quieter than when it was new. The new motor has been completely redesigned as well as the electronic motor controller that comes with it.)

You've already removed the rear panel, all that's left to get to the motor and motor controller is to remove the front panel. Here's how to do it;

Open the washer door, remove the 2 screws at the door hinges, then remove the 2 screws opposite the door hinges. Now grasp the side panels (one hand on each side) near where the top panel meets the front panel and pull toward you. Now close the door. Then tilt the front panel down to about a 45 degree angle and lift it off of the lower clips.

Look at the lower right and left of the machine, you'll see a brace on each side. Remove the lower screw (5/16" socket or nut driver) of each of these and rotate the braces out of the way.

Now simply follow the instructions that came with your new motor and install it. When you're finished, rebuild in the opposite way.

*TIP---> There's a 5/16" bolt you'll remove with a 1/2" wrench or socket that holds the old motor in place. DO NOT reuse this bolt! Go to a hardware store and purchase a 5/16" -18 x 1 1/4" bolt, a 5/16" (M8) washer and a 5/16" lock washer and use these when you're ready to tighten the motor down.

*TIP 2--->  After you have the new motor in place and all the wiring done in the front, THEN  move to the back and install the bolt/washers that you just purchased. Don't tighten it down yet, though... just start it by hand and leave the motor swinging loose. Now install the belt, starting with the motor pulley first then loop it over the drive pulley and rotate it around. Rotate the big pulley several times and watch it at the motor... make sure the belt is riding true on that pulley. Now, use a screwdriver and put a bit more tension on the belt by prying the motor to the right. Not much, just a little. Then tighten the motor mount bolt.

(you may want to print this out, huh?)

Anyway... sounds complicated, but it's not. Those Maytag 5500's are worth the repair. Good luck! And if I can help further, let me know.

SOURCE: kenmore 90 plus series: heavy duty super capacity won't agitate

this is the site to find out how to fix your washer.
you have a broken drive coupling.
it probably wont agitate or spin, but will fill and drain.
you need to remove 2 screws from the control panel, hinge it back and then remove the 2 brass colored clips that hold the cabinet to the base. once you do then pull the entire cabinet forwards to a 45 degree angle and pull it off the base.
then pull the 2 clips off pump and then 2 more on the motor. that will allow you to get to the drive coupling. you will find it to be broken.
replace it with part number 285753a for about 15-20 bucks.

The dishes on the upper rack are not getting clean. I have taken the entire assembly apart and all is in order. Is there a pump or valve problem?

Are you properly loading and placing dishes in their respective spots? Are you pre rinsing the dishes? do they have food stuck and dried on them? Are the dishes greasy? What type of detergent are you using? Ensure all these things are correct and of the standard expectations of the manufacture for your model and if all else fails you may was to try and observe if there are water pumps/jets on the top of the dish washer. if there is not then that may be your issue and if there is you may want to mark the spot they are positioned and see if it moved after you have started and stopped a cycle. you may also try and see what happens if you have a water proof phone by bagging it and stick it in the dish washer to observe the top of the inside of hate dish washer, next I would check for valve clogs and sediment/calcium build up. Good luck and if you need help pass this point please consult an expert at

Our whirlpool cabrio washer model wtw8500dc0 will start a cycle. It shows error codes E9 F7 what is the problem?

you either have a bad motor or a piece of clothing is stuck between the tubs, open the lid and see if the tub will spin,if not clothes got down between the tubs.also check the wires down near the motor, sometimes the snap inside the casing from the tub going off balance,if there is a piece of clothing stuck between the tubs you pop off the top plastic part on the tub but first you have to get the top of washer off to do this, usually the clothing will be in the back right side, the metal might be sharp on the tub,i use a coat hanger to hook the clothing and pull it out, good luck and hope this helps,go here to see error codes.

My whirlpool ultimate II washer was working fine and just stopped. I could smell something like wiring getting hot and now it won't do anything. The basket is still full of clothes and water.

remove the frame, pop off the two clips that hold the pump on and pull the pump off of the motor shaft, start the machine,if it runs you have something stuck in the pump.if it does run get a shop vac and remove the water from the tub, then remove the clamps on the hoses just push them down the hose with a pair of plyers then loosen one hose at a time so you can vac out the water, once you have all the water out you can remove the pump and see what's stuck in it,usually,a sock, womens underwear or a metal from a bra.if it's not the pump move the shaft on the motor with the plyers were the pump slides onto, you could have a flat spot on the motor and by moving the motor at the shaft might free it up,i've done this, some motors will run all the time after this or it could stop again on the next load, watch it and see what happens.http://www.youtube.com/user/RepairClinic?v=DwV71h86Gxw&feature=pyv&ad=5457341861&kw=washer%20pump
watch video and it will show you how to get at the pump and motor.good luck with your washer

Acq158xpo whirlpool window ac power on unit humms

hello there!
well, humming that's the motor stuck up,it can't start up,the running winding of motor has built up current because it can't move on,the start winding is not wotking, check starting capacitor ,using multi tester have set to RX100 test rod on both terminal pointer will deflect to "o"reading, then reverse the test rod on terminal of capacitor this will deflect also to "0" but gradually go back to original position at high value.if this happen your capacitor is good.but if not deflect.defective capacitor, replace defective capacitor,
if capacitor is good, check relay coil,or check motor starting winding resistance,if you get high resistance more than 100 ohms
you motor is defective replace motor,
have a nice day, don't forget to rate me,thank's a lot
