Sorry Bill,

Crucial says that your computer uses DDR NOT DDR2 RAM.

DDR2 runs at a higher freq. rate and a lower voltage.

Get a DDR PC2700 module and it will work.

BTW, max for your machine is 2GB, a 1GB in each slot, although you're good if you only use 1 module for now.

If you already tried to switch ram's positions, I certainly would go after updating the bios. getting it at e-machine websites.

Try to check  whether the ram  frquency  matches the specifications....
any way  three beep  means a graphics card problem  so  if you have one remove it and try to reboot
but i think this has to do with the RAM frequency
pls do post back

Upgrade ram

In order to upgrade the ram of your desktop. First you have to check the ram specifications. If wrong specifications the desktop will not work. To check you have to remove the ram from your desktop by removing the screws behind your desktop. Open the lid and you will see the contents of your desktop. Besides of your processor, there is ram installed. Unclip it. Then bring that ram to the computer shops. Purchase a ram higher than the ram installed in your desktop. Afterwards, install the new ram to your desktop. Good luck.

DDR or DDR2

DDR 266 is DDR, not DDR 2 . The 266 is the frequency value in Mhz.

Try having the memory refunded or resell it on Ebay, so that you do not lose your money.

Here is supported memory, many older motherboards do not accept modules of over 512Mb each, ask to the seller:

Can I add 1GB memory chip in 2nd slot with a 512MB chip in 1st?

You can upgrade by inserting a 1GB PC2100 DDR SDRAM DIMM. I would put the 1MB in the first slot and move the 512MB chip to the second slot.
The 1GB should cost around $40.

Memory problem

It's possible that the new RAM is incompatible with your motherboard. Check board specs to see list of supported RAM & check against what you have. Hope this helps.
