That error indicates is a cartridge is installed incorrectly, ie the cartridge is in a different cradle than the driver thinks it is.

OR you have a shorted cartridge, & need to replace it.

Try cleaning the cartridger connections, in the carriage & on the cartridge. Use some lint free cotton & isopropyl alcohol, wipe from the top of the foil strip down to the printhead.

DO this until the wipe comes away clean. The connections in the carriage can also be just as dirty.

    Check to see if any ink is smeared inside the holder where the contact panel is located. Normally gold contacts.

    Clean off the contacts with a paper towel or q-tip.

    Then try reprinting the alignment page. Then print the test page a few times.

    back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and
    power the AIO on.

    Did the error message return?


    Yes: Continue to step 2.
    No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.

    Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the
    unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently
    move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.

    Remove both cartridges from the AIO. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the All-In-One (AIO) on.

    Did the error message return?


    Yes: There is a hardware problem with the printer. Continue to Contacting Lexmark.
    No: Continue to Step 4.

    unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently
    move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.

    Insert the color cartridge. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.

    Did the error message return?


    Yes: Continue to Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts, then repeat steps 4 and 5. If you have already tried cleaning the contacts, continue to Defective Cartridge Test.
    No: Continue to step 6.

    Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the
    unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently
    move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.

    Insert the black cartridge. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on.

    Did the error message return?


    Yes: Continue to Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts, then repeat steps 6 and 7. If you have already tried cleaning the contacts, skip to Defective Cartridge Test.
    No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.

Error 1203 I'm getting error 1203 on the printer. I have new cartridges in. Fresh paper. Still getting error 1203


1. Press Power to turn your All-In-One off.
2. Unplug your All-In-One from the wall outlet.
3. Plug in your All-In-One.
4. Reinstall the cartridges.

If this does not resolve the problem, replace your cartridges to fix the problem.

Error # 1203 Cartridge Error


Have you recently refilled or replaced any of the cartridges. 1203 is usually one of two things.

1. An overfilled cartridge (fixed by wrapping in damp paper towel for a bit until excess ink wicks out)
2. Ink smeared on contacts (fixed by cleaning contacts on cartridge and on printer's cartridge housing)

Seen this lots with dell printers.
Error 1203 is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad...

1 - try cleaning the copper contacts of the both carts and cart slot in the printer and try again..
or
2 - when error shows up, shut the printers power off; wait one minute and turn it back on press copy.

I kept pressing menu, since it would not bring it up turned it off and on, it fixed itself, now it is printing.
