This depends on your hardware. If you have HDMI port on your laptop and on your TV it is the best and easyest option for your case. Just plug-in the hdmi cable, go to your computer Control Panel->Display and configure the second monitor as extended. Your TV must be monitor number 2 and you should use recommended settings for the picture resolution.
From your TV go to input source list and select the HDMI port.
Now you should see your desktop background without the taskbar and icons. So you can drag and drop the application you want to see on your Dynex TV(secondary monitor) and that's it. This method will bring video and audio just with one cable. Of course you can use VGA port on the Tv, but the quality of the picture will drop and you must have separate cable for the sound.
