Raven,

This is not for the faint hearted and because there are many types of different hinges used i cant be absolutley specific but here goes any way :)

You will probably need to lift the caseing aroung the top of the keyboard, then the caseing around the screen. There generaly lots and lots of small screws involved and some locking tabs.

I find the best way to deal with the locking tabs is to tease them open with something like a jewellers screw driver and then use

You should then be able to get to the hinges for the screen. The main problem I've seen with loose hinges is the plastic fixes for hinges have broken and the screws have fallen. If this is the case there isnt a great deal you can do other than replacing the screen caseings.

Hope this helps, if you need any more assistance please dont hesitate to ask.

Regards

Nick

I would remove the power adapter, battery, RAM and hard drive. Press the power button for a few seconds to discharge everything. Plug the adapter back in and press power. If the laptop throws a wobbly and messages appear on the screen, power it off and add the RAM, do it again and the add the hard drive. If it does nothing when all is removed, the motherboard has a fault, otherwise the issue will be apparent as items are added.
Sometimes removing and replacing the RAM and hard drive will fix this problem.

yup! of course you can. but sometimes, it also depends on the model but most of the time you can try it. go to the website of your laptop's brand then search for the online manual. or if you are still in warranty, call technical help. problems for hinges or wobbly screens are COVERED by warranty. im sure.

I have 2 emachines laptops. Both have broken hinges. One of them has a damaged screen but laptop works otherwise. The other was working ok until recently, it only had a wobbly screen due to the hinges, but...

This is a link to guide you through the process of pulling the laptops apart and combing them to make one good one. Trust me, with the right guide and patience, laptop disassembly is not that hard.

Loose and Wobbly Laptop Screen

Well, your best bet would be to tighten the screws in the hinges of the laptop screen. You can usually do this by removing the keyboard which will expose the screws. I hope that you find this helpful.

That would be the logical repair. You can also try seperating the two pins a little in order to acheive a tighter fit.
