I have a maytag electric dryer model number pye4500azw ,this is the number inside the door.i noticed it seemed to be taking longer to dry the clothes ,a couple of weeks ago i came home and my daughter said her clothes had been in the dryer for 3 hours and weren't dry so i felt the vent in the back and there was no air coming out.i cleaned the lent trap and when i put it back in i noticed it didn't click in all the way.i took the front of the dryer apart and found it was plugged up solid with lint, all the way to the blower.i cleaned it out and it work great up until yesterday. it stopped working in the middle of its drying cycle.its not doing anything ,the light inside isn't even coming on.the timer seems to be working, when i push the button to start it nothing ,no sound of any kind. i checked the fuse box in the house thought maybe a fuse blew.switched the the stove fuses with the dryer fuses and the stove still worked so i figure its not the fuse box.i took the top off the dryer and looked and the wirs conections to see if any where burnt or broken they where ok,i thought maybe they had got to hot from the dryer being plugged with lint.so i'm not really sure on what else to look at.hope you can help thank you.hope this wosen't to long.
Thank you for the useful tip, I also had the same problem and the thermal fuse was the problem...
Lonewolf, it's possible that the thermal fuse has opened. You need to lift the top and look in back where the heater is. On the right side of the heating element there will be a thermostat. Just below that thermostat you will see the thermal fuse..about 4 inches down. If this is bad, your dryer will not run. Check it with a meter or jump it out to see if that is the problem. Be careful and unplug the unit while testing or jumping. If this diagram attaches look at number 5....Catriver...post back.

I have a Maytag model PYR4500AZW, about 5 years old .It has started to blow its 30 amp fuses. The fuse does not blow right away as soon as you turn it on but after some time. Sometime it blows after 2 minutes and at other times it runs fine for 2 hours. There are no loose wires or any sign of overheating in the fusebox. If some one has a solution it would be greatly appreciated
maytag dryer model # MDE3706AYW
Dryer will not start the light does come on and was just purchased last Dec. Checked fuse box everything fine ....help
good call on the thermal fuse. had to take out a screw holding in the element, and the bracket holding the thermostat, but it was easily removed after that.
a set of $3 alligator clips cable is money well spent!
Dryer stopped after drying a heavy carpet. Checked all house fuses. Nope.
I have not yet opened the dryer top to check heat sensor. Is this a regular house type fuse ?
