With the PDF document open in Acrobat 7
Standard or Professional, choose File > Save As. In the Save As
dialog box, choose Microsoft Word Document from the Format (Mac) or Type
(Windows) pop-up menu. Then simply click the Save button, and open the
document in Word for editing.
The conversion may not be perfect, depending on
factors such as the complexity of the layout, and whether you have the
document's fonts on your system. For simple business documents,
Acrobat's Save As command does a decent job of converting to Word.
1) it'll provide 1yr guarantee..(though some retailers give 6months warranty).. 2) has a 3d hologram sticker stuck on it.. 3) the month and year of manufacturing is printed.. 4) has a 'safe-chloride' tag tied.. 5) the anode n cathode are protected with a cap 6) (sometimes/rarely) it comes in packet or box..
best is to ask a vendor/company stockist/showroom directly....

You guess seems to be right. The user manual says that 7 orange flashes is "Defective print head Contact a Canon service representative". So, the is not much more we will be able to suggest you on FixYa.com, unless there is a Canon technical rep who is also an Expert here!
Sometimes, all is not lost, they may have a special (undocumented) procedure they will ask you to try. Then, if it turns out that your printer is really dead, you may still be able to resell the ink in the classified ads or on eBay. Good luck!
