This should be normal.  The gurgling is the water that melted out from ice in your fridge.

What could cause loud popping sounds?

The sounds you are hearing is the defrosted water, from auto defrosting, running onto the hot compressor. This evaporates the defrosted water. This is quite normal.

Maytag mfd2561heb double door frig making clicking sounds, gradually warming. I think the defrost heater may not be working. How to check defrost heater? Should I remove the back panel in the freezer...

The defrost heater is one part that may be bad, but before you make it the culprit, test it first with an ohmmeter for continuity. If the heater tests okay, the defrost thermostat is bad and needs to be replaced.

We have a 1990 plymouth voyager which is producing white smoke and a liquid that smells like gas from the exhaust pipe. The car shakes slightly, and makes a a guggling sound when idle. We made it home...

You should be able to cycle key to on (not start just on) then off, then on, then off, then on, and leave it on. Check engine light should flash codes. There will be a number of flashes, then a small pause, then more flashes. That will be the 2 digit number, for example: flash, flash, pause, flash, flash would be code 22. 3 flashes, pause, then 5 flashes, would be code 35. When you get 5 flashes, pause, then 5 more, that is code 55 which means end of message, or codes. Have a pen ready and write them down and get back to us with those numbers for faster assistance. If that doesn't work, see if you can get to one of the big autoparts stores like Autozone, or Pep Boys, and they will scan it for free to pinpoint problem before spending money on guessing.

Red element in freezer making noise

Most times that is normal when defrost takes place. The sound of frozen surfaces changing temperature quickly and you may also hear the sound of water sizzling when the moisture drops on the element. The only thing that would concern me is if the defrost remained on too long and to the point of causing a burned plastic smell. Is the refrigerator new to you or the sounds just suddenly change? There have been cases where the defrost remained on too long when the defrost thermostat becomes defective. Let me know if you have something more sever than that. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Model 596.73502203 Making intermittant buzzing sound. Moisture on inside of fridge and freezer. Food in freezer is thawing out.

I believe that your refrigerator may need a new 12002495 or 1184282 Adaptive Defrost Control You can find it inside the fresh food section and behind the controls for temperature. Not sure about the buzzing sound yet but the moisture and thawing of the frozen food points to a defrost problem. Need you to unplug and have a look at the adaptive defrost control. Would not hurt to open the back panel in the rear of freezer and defrost if needed and need someone to check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Sea Breeze

Not cool

By any chance is the ticking sound coming from the defrost timer, down in the freezer compartment? If the timer isn't advancing, either there won't be any automatic defrosting and the evaporator will turn into an iceberg or (if the timer gets stuck in permanent defrost) the compressor won't come on.

Defrost timers have a knob (sort of) that you can turn with a screwdriver (in one direction only). That allows you to move the timer in and out of defrost mode for troubleshooting. You can also mark the knob with a Sharpie and watch for the mark to move. These timers are supposed to make a revolution in 6 or 8 hours, depending on the model. The defrost part of the cycle usually lasts less than half an hour.

The defrost timer isn't the only part that can fail and prevent defrosting, but it's the only one likely to tick.
