Lost satelite signal and screen become hard to see
Was working fine and then the icon for lost signal came on. I left it for a while and still no signal. Thought the batteries might be getting low so I put some ne ones in. When I turned it on you could only see the screen if you placed it on the right angle...still no signal??
Is it terminal or worth fixing?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

You use a program from tomtom wesite named tomtom home. Download to pcinstall it then connect device to pc using usb cable. The tomtom home program will list all updates available and install all free ones. Ensure you make a backup first.
If you have accidentally selected the flight mode from the menu options this turns off the satelite receiver so check this setting also from the menu you can select the satelite network and see if there is a signal being received and how many satellites it is connecting to. It requires at least three to function and possibly will not work with less than five if there is none then a reinstall of the program will need to be done following instructions from web site on reinstalling the application. You must backup the device first as you cannot download a free map. Follow the website instructions and if there is still no satelite signals being received then its busted. From the main map screen the signal strength may be segn as a small icon like a volume icon. Press this and you also get signal information.
Try going online at the Tom Tom site and updating the device (it's free). There's a new update each week that tells the Tom Tom where the satellites will be during the coming seven days. Admittedly, this only speeds up the process and not finding a signal for 200 miles is a stretch, but it's worth a try if you don't regularly update.
Sounds like the aerial. There is a very fine wire in the center of the male aerial plug. If this is bent then you will have that problem. Aerials are hard to get, dealers say they are obsolete...update your model. Cheers, Peter
first make sure your atenna is connected properly and that the pin in the antenna side of the connector is not damaged. if this looks fine, try using the reset GPS function, to get there, get into the menu, touch exit (top left of the screen) and click the green exit button, then from the mater menu, select setup and reset GPS.
leave the system on for about 5 minutes, it should re-adquire. if not, then you have either a faulty antenna or an internal problem. you can find external antennas on ebay.
