My amd processor

Thanks a lot for ur reply.

Actually i just wanted to confirm that whether it is o.k. for my notebook to get warm very early(hardly 5-10 mins).......as i heard only when one plays games or other high processing power applications that the notebook gets heated. And yes the degree of heat remains same n doesnt go up once it has attained that much in the beginning.I came acroos that notebook can hang or automatically shut down once it heats too much.was just a bit worried that is it an inherent problem that i may face in future due to A.M.D. processor??

also i have been given a win vista basic edn. I came to know that to install WIN XP i will face problems as i wud need drivers for that. What exactly are drivers n how do i get them?

one more problem is that my NOTEBOOK hardly lasts for 1 hour 10 mins without battery power even when it is in the power saver mode(whether i play games,multimedia..or whether i do simple c programming).....as i heard it should last for atleast 2:30 hrs.

My model is HP-Pavilion dv5-1106ax.

Tha a lot for ur reply n hope you solve this one too!!!!

I hav a similer prob i hav the same model and i installed windows vista ultimate i downloaded all the drivers from hp. Now the prob is that the temp reach 90c. even my battery does not last for long. My friends suggested me to install AMD Cool'n'quiet this s/w optimizes the cpu usage and thus reduces the power consumption and haeting of the computer.
but i m not able to find this software for vista.

I wouldnt be too concerned about the "heat" especially since it doesnt get 'hotter'.

Drivers are software programs that make your computers parts work properly with Windows (or any other OS as appropriate)

Goto hp's website and get the drivers ..

It could just be the battery, they all fluctuate .. the only way to know is get another battery or accept the battery life time and enjoy your 'puter.

My notebook heats a lot!!!!!!

Hello, here is the deal, AMD and INTEL both have CPU's that have low heat. In your case you would have to buy a new laptop to switch from AMD to INTEL. The laptop motherboard take's only one socket type, for exp.. you would have to get another TURION at faster speeds or less speeds in the same socket family. Try to keep the vents open, sometimes the vents for the air from the fan come out the bottom not the back. You might want to invest in a laptop fan stand.

I will be glad to share my little knowledge in this senario.
Basically, I am personally a fan of AMD processors who is the first to manufacture 64 Bit Processors for Desktops and Notebooks.
However, if you remember, Intel started concentrating on Performance and not on Speed after AMD was able to design processors which were able to outperform Intel processors with slower speeds.
So, you need to look into Performance and not into Speed of the Processor.
Coming to the processor installed in your notebook, it is normal but I recommend you to use Windows XP than using Vista since Vista need more RAM and processing power when compared to XP.
Also, Windows Vista Home Basic is the basic version among the Vista family with very little features.
Coming to the Heating issue, this is common for all Notebooks to heat up when used for long time since the Notebook parts are palced in a very small where if any part heats up, it is passed to other parts too.
Make sure that the Cooling Fan Vents in the Notebook are not filled with Dust.
You can find these vents located at the rear of the notebook from where the hot air should be emiting from inside the Notebook.
I recommend you to use a Vaccume Cleaner or Air Blower to blow away invisible dust which might be blocking the airflow.
Also, make sure that the Notebook is placed on a flat surface like a Table so that there will be air flow from the bottom of the Notebook and the Cooling Fan will be able to **** in the required air from the bottom and dissapate the heat generated by the internal components.
Also, check for any BIOS Update is available for your Notebook related to this issue and update with the same.
You need to contact HP Chat Support and get the exact BIOS Update for your notebook since updating the BIOS with incorrect Update will make the Notebook useless.

Hope this gives some idea about your doubts.....

Amd turion x2 rm70 vs intel core 2 duo t5750!!!!

I read this and don't believe you - yes the AMD dual core gets hot - yes AMD processor are HOT processors - is intel better - no there on par with AMD - the thu put rate is so close it doesn't matter - now vista basic is just that BASIC - if you want to bump it up - home premium 32 or 64 but ultimate 64 should get it going.
