Sound problem with the DVD/CD player on my laptop

This has happened before & I contacted customer care and they were able to guide me through the steps, but I can't remember now what to do. Anyway, my computer drive is having a problem - rather suddenly. The video is fine, but the sound is really choppy. At some point, they had me reinstall a driver, but I can't remember what one it was. I'd appreciate any help as I'm very frustrated. ;) Thank you, Kristin (krislphil@hotmail.com)

The driver will be in a folder on a restore partition of your harddrive, or on the installation cd that you got with the system. You can also download the driver here, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=453183&lang=en If your not sure it's a driver fault, click Start>Run, then type 'dxdiag' and press enter. This will run a graphics and sound diagnostics.

if this remedy does not help and if your set has still under warranty ,consult to service they may replace the LASER Reader EYE...most of the time Laser Eye malfunctions and does this..
if it is not under warranty ,never ,never have someone repaired it..go buy a new one,It will be cheaper.. ...

Dvd-rw is not being detected by bios

You may try removing and reseating the cd/dvd player in the machine. There may be a slide lock or you may need to un-screw, slide the player out then reinsert the player. It is sound like the contacts are barely making a connection. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
