Sound problem with the DVD/CD player on my laptop

This has happened before & I contacted customer care and they were able to guide me through the steps, but I can't remember now what to do. Anyway, my computer drive is having a problem - rather suddenly. The video is fine, but the sound is really choppy. At some point, they had me reinstall a driver, but I can't remember what one it was. I'd appreciate any help as I'm very frustrated. ;) Thank you, Kristin (

Re: Sound problem with the DVD/CD player on my laptop

The driver will be in a folder on a restore partition of your harddrive, or on the installation cd that you got with the system. You can also download the driver here, If your not sure it's a driver fault, click Start>Run, then type 'dxdiag' and press enter. This will run a graphics and sound diagnostics.

Cant open my cd player on my acer pc

On most cd/dvd players there is a small hole below the tray on desktop players and on the tray on laptops. Take a paper clip and carefully push thru the hole. This should release the cd tray.

My jensen touch screen cd/dvd player ate my dvd the longest yard lol. How do i remove the cd from inside the cd player without messing it up?

Turn the thing off, FIRST(!) (please). In the front of the CD holder (in the plate on the front of it) there should be a tiny hole, literally about 1mm diam. Get a paper clip, straighten it out, and then turn the end half-inch/cm over so that it acts as a handle. Now carefully push the other long straight end into the hole (possibly an inch or more), until it contacts something solid. Push it firmly but carefully and the CD holder should slide out. You may need one or two tries at this, but you should be able to do it without too much trouble. This is a recognised method of removing a stuck disc.

Data disk read as blank disk

This may be a reading media incompatibility problem. This does happen with some DVD/CD players. This usually mentioned in the owners manual of the product. You can try looking under the instructions for the operation of the DVD/CD player in the manual. If you cannot find the information there, you can try using the internet search engines for the make and model number of your notebook and the type of DVD/CD discs you are using. Use the search engine for known problems with the use of the media with your type of notebook DVD/CD player. You can also call Lenovo customer support telephone number 1-877-453-6686. Give them the model number of the notebook and ask them for assistance with the problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

Toshiba satellite A205 - cd/dvd drive doesn't work

Hi there.

The CD/DVD drive uses Class Filter Drivers. These have probably been currupted or are missing. All you should need to do, is re-install the Chipset Drivers (Intel).

Here's the link:

Let me know if that works.

Dvd-rw is not being detected by bios

You may try removing and reseating the cd/dvd player in the machine. There may be a slide lock or you may need to un-screw, slide the player out then reinsert the player. It is sound like the contacts are barely making a connection. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
