system would not want to start up, until after 2-5 times. now won't start up, excep to have hard drive light on, No display. Changed CMOS battery, no change! will not start!

I have the same problem. I use now an old PCI card to startup, because the AGP is not recognized anymore (nVidia Quadro FX). If you have an AGP card with DVI and VGA output, maybe try first the VGA one, before you try the PCI card. But anyway: I come to the BIOS and can change and save something, but I just can't start windows anymore. It happened after I installed some new passive coolers - but the temperature is still okay, I don't understand this.It seems, it is defect now ...

Always shutdown"CPU Shutdown Temperature

Hello download a manual here:

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/Downloads_Driver_Detail.aspx?MenuID=61&LanID=0&detailid=1093

Check the bios for any cpu overclocking settings
and set it back to standard settings.
Renew also the thermal cooling paste between the cpu and the cooling fan.
See if the cpu fan is running when the pc starts.

Be VERY carefull when you remove the cpu cooling fan
and take care not to damage the cpu.
And take antistatic precautions when you work on the mainboard.

If you have not tryed this before let a expert do the job.

Hope this will help you

The computer shutdown and I tried to turn on and

If you are getting through the bios before it shuts down, you may want to make sure that the CPU cooling fan is working and that there is plenty of airflow around the CPU heat sink. Make sure the reset and power buttons are working properly as well. Check that all of your RAM modules and any add on cards are seated properly as well.

Cpu fan still running even the system was shutdown

Unplug your computer from the wall socket. Then the only power it will have is the battery that keeps the CMOS information. There will not be enough power for anything to run.

Don't forget to rate this solution.

Computer turns on but no display/cpu_fan slot not working.

The four-pin CPU fan connector is the same as the three-pin (red is for voltage, black is ground and yellow for the rpm reading) but also adds a blue wire used by some BIOS sets to adjust the RPM speed of the fan. The three-pin will fit into a four-pin connector without modification, using a jumper is DEFINITELY not recommended as it could short your board.

If your system has the four-pin fan, and it boots and runs without error, it may be that your CPU is running cool enough that the fan is not needed at the time. Check your BIOS for a hardware monitor to see the actual CPU temperature. Also, you may have added utilities in Windows to give the fan speed and CPU temperature in real time. You may also notice the CPU fan kicking in when doing CPU intensive operations (virus scans, etc.)

The four-pin fan would run from a three-pin connector but would always run at full speed because the RPM Adjust signal is not present.

I HAVE P5RD1-VM ASUS BOARD NOW COMPUTER STARTED PROBLEM

Hi,

several reasons for this.

1:) CPU Overheating.
2:) RAM Overheating.
3:) Motherboard Component Overheating.
4:) FAN not operating correctly.

These are a few things that can shutdown a computer after a few minutes, also viruses/trojans et,c.
can shut off hard-drives. and even instruct the bios to change settings.

Check that the CPU And case fans work correctly.

Beep sound when swith on

good day,

a beep from your cpu system means that there is an error. and since there is a "cpu overheat" error, it could mean that your cpu cooling system (or its fan) is not working.

the shutdown is a defense mechanism of your cpu in order for your cpu not to self distract.

have the cooling system replaced as soon as possible to avoid further damage.

i hope this will help

CPU fan stops, computer shuts down

You must have the CPU fan plugged into the CPU fan power connector or the system can not monitor the fans speed. Your PC will shut down & give you that message. (The fan must be connected to the correct power plug).
If when you did replace the CPU's fan & had to remove the heat sink, which is where the fan screws into & did not clean the old thermal grease off the CPU & heatsink & replace with new thermal grease than your CPU will still overheat. If you add thermal grease over top of old thermal grease your CPU will over heat.
This is all a balancing act. If any one is not correct your system will shut down. (This is better than killing the CPU).
To remove old thermal grease use a clean cloth damped with house hold alcohol & use the same on the bottom of the heatsink. Please allow plenty of time for the alcohol to dry.

Good Luck! Take your time.
Mike
