Driver for win 98 usb and dvd

In here

http://www.raymond.cc/blog/how-to-install-usb-mass-storage-device-on-windows-98/

is mentioned a generic USB driver for Win98 (which does not have a native driver for USB) and a third party Service Pack 3, which may (indeed should) have a DVD driver for W98. Try them, but scan for malware.

Windows 7 install stops and reports that a required driver for the CD/DVD drive device is missing.

you need to load the device driver prior to starting the install as it looks as if the windows installation drivers do not support your DVD drive. Get the driver on a USB stick and load it at the first of the install.

My PC is an IDE. the dvd/cd burner went bad. I baught this new LG burner today with an IDE to SATA adapter with the needed cables. I installed it all and it wont even come on, not working. So I am guessing...

It is not the dvd driver problem but more likely to have the adapter issue. The generic Microsoft cd/dvd dirver should be fine, I never have to install and driver for the replacement DVD/CD drive on any of my repair works.
Did you try this setup with another PC?

I can see the dvd/cd drive but it will not play anything.when I click the drive it keeps asking to insert a disk when I have already put one in?

make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

hope this helps

The dvd-rom cannot be found. cd or dvd emulation software has been detected.

hi there,

try to detect in the CMOS set up. restart your computer in booting process press F2 or Delete tab
and check if your dvd is detected if not you should check the cable/ power connection of your dvd. and then try again.

if detected if your using vista update dvd drivers for vista and then if it is xp you have a like this if you downgrade your pc from vista to old XP. you have this problem. update to microsoft the SP2 and SP3 updates.

Dvd player,do i have to unhook my internal one ,inordr to use an external dvd burner

No, You should start up pc and after it is to the desktop just plug it into a usb port. Windows should recognize and either load software or ask for disc. Usb devices has to be plugged in or removed live. That is while the computer is running.

IDE TO USB CONVERTER CONNECTED TO SPARE DVD BURNER. MAC G4 DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE BURNER. DO I NEED A DRIVER?

Hello there,
First things first:
1) Did you enable on BIOS all USB ports?
2) Install all USB drivers?
3) then use another port USB 2.0
3) it is suppose to recognize it now.
